The Operations Manager directs the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures and budgets. Makes budgetary recommendations and at higher levels, controls capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor and is responsible for managing two or more of the following activities related to operations: manufacturing, production planning, manufacturing engineering, test, quality, or shipping/receiving/stores. Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Essential Functions:
- Provides direction to subordinate supervisors/assemblers based on general policies and management guidelines.
- Interprets and executes policies that typically affect subordinate organizational groups. Coordinate work programs for shift operations.
- Plans and coordinates integrated schedules for personnel, material and facilities utilization.
- Provides assistance to subordinates in meeting schedules.
- Responsible for assigned department budgets.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 6 years prior manufacturing experience.
- Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior manufacturing experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related manufacturing experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in implementation of a manufacturing process improvement activity is desired.
- Demonstrated performance in factory operations including a thorough knowledge of scheduling, planning, forecasting, performance measurements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to lead effectively in a challenging team environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct and control the activities of the assigned organization.
- Willingness to be available to supervise occasional overtime work as deemed necessary by company commitment to schedule.
- Willingness to assist in additional job duties as assigned by Management is vital.
