SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Base Maintenance Manager to oversee the operations of our Class 4 Airframe 145 Repair Station in Pensacola, Florida. This facility specializes in commercial heavy aircraft base maintenance. The Base Maintenance Manager will serve as a proxy for the Director of Maintenance, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company standards while managing a team of skilled technicians and support staff.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage the maintenance operations at the Pensacola base, ensuring all activities are performed in compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of maintenance personnel, including assigning tasks, setting priorities, and monitoring performance.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FAA Part 145 regulations and other relevant aviation standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs as required by regulatory authorities.
- Stay current with changes in aviation regulations and implement necessary adjustments to maintenance practices and procedures.
Operational Oversight:
- Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure timely completion and minimal downtime.
- Monitor the availability and condition of tools, equipment, and facilities, ensuring they meet operational needs and safety standards.
- Coordinate with other departments, including engineering, logistics, and quality assurance, to support efficient maintenance operations.
Quality Assurance:
- Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure all maintenance work meets or exceeds industry standards and customer expectations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address any deficiencies in maintenance practices or procedures.
- Investigate and resolve any maintenance-related issues or discrepancies, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Staff Development:
- Recruit, train, and develop maintenance personnel, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to support employee growth and development.
- Promote a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and high performance.
Communication and Reporting:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Pensacola base, representing the Director of Maintenance and ensuring effective communication with senior management.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on maintenance activities, performance metrics, and any issues or concerns to the Director of Maintenance.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities as needed to support maintenance operations and address any inquiries or concerns.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
SUPERVISION: The incumbent normally performs the duty assignment at his or her discretion and is limited only by policies set by administrative or legislative authority. Total end results determine the effectiveness of job performance.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: A strong level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship among customers and employees, various departments, management and the public.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Essential responsibilities are performed in a climate controlled office but not limited to the office. Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals, meeting short deadlines, maintaining numerous projects simultaneously, employee confrontations and long work hours.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors degree in Aviation Maintenance, Engineering, or a related field is required. However, a combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelors degree.
EXPERIENCE:
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
- In-depth knowledge of FAA Part 145 regulations and commercial aircraft maintenance practices.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and other relevant tools.
