What you can expect as a Program Manager at West Star:

This position requires a responsive, fast-paced decision maker who is highly driven to achieve business expectations. This is a results-oriented leader driven by personal and team accountability. They will be responsible for leading the Project Manager / Shift Manager/ and technician team to ensure all operations are successfully executed in their assigned hangar. This manager will also develop and implement “best practices” methodology while driving a competitive advantage. This is accomplished by a continuous improvement, process-based culture, focused on people, safety, service, profitability, accuracy, and speed. Under minimal supervision, exercise discretion and sound business judgment to deliver an on time and squawk free customer service experience while adhering to all regulatory, safety, quality and company standards.

 

 

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

  • Under minimal supervision, exercise discretion, sound business judgment, and strong business acumen to deliver an on-time and squawk-free customer service experience while adhering to all regulatory, safety, quality, and company standards.
  • Hire, assess, and develop employees at various skill levels to perform work in accordance with all applicable procedures and standards, ensuring the program meets profitability and performance targets.
  • Review available manpower by skill and shift to plan short- and long-term training needs, along with hiring goals, to optimize workforce efficiency. Share manpower when possible with other Airframe Programs to enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrates ability to collaborate with the sales team to effectively coordinate work schedules and optimize workflow, ensuring continuous productivity by aligning staffing and resources with the demands of sold projects.
  • Coordinate working schedules with the sales team to ensure the workload is aligned with sold projects. Proactively adjust staffing and shift schedules based on project sales forecasts, ensuring a continuous flow of work and preventing idle time.
  • Make adjustments to workflows as necessary to meet changing business demands and customer expectations.
  • Engage employees for feedback on improvement opportunities or other job-related needs to enhance the work environment, remove obstacles, and improve business performance.
  • Partner with all departments to develop and refine workflows from pre-planning to aircraft delivery, ensuring that project timelines are met and work is distributed efficiently based on the volume of sold projects.
  • Communicate status updates during routine operational meetings and attend customer meetings as required, ensuring that workflow adjustments are made according to customer needs and business priorities.
  • Perform project-based planning to assign manpower, identify and prepare recovery plans for any potential risks, schedule changes, or constraints that could impact project timelines or profitability.
  • Ensure all work is performed to the highest level of technical knowledge and in accordance with company and regulatory procedures, repair station manual, safety, and quality standards, while considering cost-effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
  • Promote and hold employees accountable for maintaining a safe work environment, including proper use of all PPE, operation of support equipment, and general housekeeping practices.
  • Perform regular employee management tasks, such as reviewing and approving time-off requests, labor charges, and expense reports.
  • Conduct quarterly performance pulses, provide regular coaching for performance and team development, and address all employment matters such as hiring, training, conflict resolution, scheduling, and overtime assignments.
  • Develop positive relationships with peers and customers to foster effective communication and teamwork, ensuring business goals and customer expectations are consistently met.
  • Review material purchases, billing invoices, and labor charges to determine cost and profitability, ensuring the program operates within budget. Communicate regularly with billing to review and sign all final invoices, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the program’s financial goals.
  • Leverage business acumen to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reduction, and growth, driving the long-term success and profitability of the Challenger and Global Maintenance Program.
  • Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:

What you’ll need to bring with you:

 

Your Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, Leadership or Aircraft related field preferred

Holds a valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant License

Aircraft specific factory training required

 

Your Experience:

10+ years in Aircraft Maintenance, with management experience in building and leading world-class operations and organizations

Working knowledge of Corridor, Cost Accounting Management, Microsoft Office, MS Project, and similar type desktop software applications.

Attention to detail and strong organizational and communication skills, both written and oral, along with budget and forecasting experience.

Experience with various models Textron aircraft

LEAN, Six Sigma and 5S experience preferred

Basic personal computer operations especially with Apple and Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, and Excel)

Supervision

Will work with minimal supervision of General Manager

Direct supervision of Team Leads and technicians.

 

Working Conditions

This work will be accomplished in both a hangar environment and office environment.

Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

 

Equipment Used

Computer operating with Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Corridor (work orders) and scheduling programs.

Desk phone and cell phone and other office equipment.
