Position Overview:

The Aircraft Technical Supervisor reports to the CH149 Deputy Senior Maintenance Manager for the duties of CH149 technical aircraft and component management and has a functional responsibility to the CH149 Fleet Manager for life cycle materiel management of the -519 variant of the AW101 and associated components in support of the CH149 fleet.  The position has a dual focus on these 2 primary responsibilities and will also be required to work closely with the CH149 Technical Records Cell, deferring to the CH149 Technical Record Supervisor on matters relating to the CH149 Electronic Record Keeping System. 

What You Will Do:
  • Conduct preservation of AW101 -511 and -519 airframes and components as detailed in the C-IETP
  • Conduct other component removal and maintenance activities as required to make -511 and -519 components available to the CH149 fleet and to the CMLU GSM Program, including inspection of components as necessary
  • Conduct lifting and slinging of CH149 major components within IMP s Halifax facilities in support of CH149 Program and CMLU GSM materiel handling activities
  • Conduct aircraft movements within IMP s Halifax facilities as necessary to manage surplus AW101 -511 and -519 airframes
  • Provide reports to the CSC on CH149 materiel, supply and hardware usage related to aircraft and component tasks
  • Configuration management and implementation of data updates of the CH149 Electronic Record Keeping System, GOLDesp, with a primary focus on assets that are held in Halifax.
  • Assist the CH149 Technical Records Cell with management of the Electronic Record Keeping System required for the support of the CH149 Cormorant helicopter, as required
  • Assist with the delivery of GOLDesp and C-IETP updates to the user units, as required
  • Support to parts Repair & Overhaul activity and Structure Building in GOLDesp for HIA held spares and heavy maintenance (PIM) aircraft Assess and evaluate additions to the CH149 AVL (Approved Vendors List)
  • Provide recommendations for component disposal and replacement on Material Disposal Requests
  • Provide a technical review and grant authorization for Purchase Order amendments of R&O components
  • Other duties as assigned by the CH149 Deputy Senior Maintenance Manager
What You Will Bring:
  • CET (Diploma in Engineering Technology) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8 or more years experience in an aircraft engineering and maintenance environment with directly related experience in aircraft mechanical and structural systems increasing in levels of responsibility over the previous 4 years.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of rotary wing aircraft systems and components.
  • CH149 Cormorant experience is desirable
  • Ability to manage projects and tasks.
  • Database and general computer skills are essential, with the ideal candidate possessing both experience with enterprise level databases (Oracle) as well as common applications such as MS-Access.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of programs including but not limited to MS Word and Excel.
  • A working knowledge of GOLDesp is desirable.
  • Knowledge of airworthiness regulations, standards and military modification processes is desirable.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with people at all levels within the organization and outside agencies.
  • Capable of providing clear and detailed written and verbal communication.
  • Must possess good self-discipline with an ability to work independently when required.
  • Hold a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineers license or be qualified as an aircraft aviation technician within the Canadian Armed Forces or equivalent commercial experience.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies.

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 5S activities in your area.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Public Works Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and Transport Canada security clearances.
