Position Summary

MAG Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled Computer Systems Architect to join our growing organization in Ft. Liberty, NC. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. You will work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. In this position, you will be tasked with designing and implementing computer and information networks, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks. You will perform network modeling, analysis, and planning. You may also design network and computer security measures. Your expertise will be relied upon to research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software. You will be expected to consult and advise on development projects for both customer and MAG Aerospace. Assignments are generally complex in nature with considerable discretion given to work details and approaches utilized.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical advice and engineering guidance for next generation planning efforts
  • Perform a variety of complex project tasks applied to specialized technology problems
  • Replicate or migrate IT capabilities, data, systems and network services to other locations or domains
  • Provide technical direction and be a member of a group of one or more engineers to address a goal
  • Responsible for planning and implementing mission capabilities and transition to enterprise services, virtualized and cloud-based technologies
  • Support internally hosted advanced technologies and to support the Government decision to transition to enterprise services in a cloud environment, and migration of IT services to a new hosting service or technology stack in a multi-cloud environment
  • Tasks involve integration of electronic processes or methodologies to resolve total system problems or technology problems
  • Maintain and operate network and system management software, and other systems such as patch servers, update servers, and storage solutions
  • Provide on-site Tier II and Tier III support for non-SCAMPI Enterprise network infrastructure, while working in conjunction with the Enterprise Network service providers to ensure delivery of Enterprise-wide services. This support shall include all related planning, system architecture, installation, configuration, O&M, documentation, engineering, and CS activities related to network services and enterprise systems
  • Architect and design solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements
  • Enforce adherence to architectural standards/principles, global product-specific guidelines, usability design standards, etc.
  • Provide guidance on engineering methodologies, standards, and leading practices
  • Provide insight and direction on roles and responsibilities required for solution operations
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Decisions throughout full lifecycle
  • Responsible for managing and operation of networks and systems for all environments.
  • Responsible for diagramming and documenting current and future designs
  • Work with security team on best practices, known risks, and recommendations
  • Participate in the creation of strategic roadmaps by understanding the needs of our customer and mapping technical objectives to those needs.
  • Create high level reference architecture documentation to meet the technology needs of various stakeholders
  • Work autonomously to build customized solutions to meet business needs
  • Effectively communicates solutions architecture to management as well as to customers and the project teams
  • Sustain the necessary data throughput rate by monitoring networking activity and maintaining existing equipment
  • Work with Cyber Security analysts to ensure Enterprise information systems are secure
  • Ensure effective and efficient operation of enterprise level systems, architecture, and application availability
  • Monitor to ensure operating systems are functioning properly and conform to operation security policies and procedures
  • Assist with the deployment of hardware and applications and ensure appropriate service levels. Includes physical servers, network devices and other hardware essential to data center operations
  • Prepare recommendations based on monitoring results, tools analysis, and/or forensics
Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge and Skills

  • Hands-on Experience in working with DoD networks, including NIPR, SIPR
  • Ability to assist with planning and implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the data centers / network
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of virtualization, operating systems, and computer hardware / software, etc.
  • Fundamental background in working in the hybrid-cloud environment
  • Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written, including long-form business writing on complex topics

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (CS, CE, CIS, IS, MIS, or engineering discipline) or equivalent/previous experience developing system models and architectures
  • DoD 8570 Compliant; IAT LVL II Certified: MUST have one of the following:
    • CCNA Security
    • CySA+ **
    • CISSP
    • GSEC
    • Security+ CE
    • CND
    • SSCP

Other Qualifications

  • US Citizenship
  • DoD TS/SCI Eligible

  • Excellent technical architecture skills, enabling the creation of future-proof, complex global solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills that are required to operate as a leading member of global, distributed teams that deliver quality services and solutions
  • Ability to rapidly gain knowledge of the organizational structure of the firm to facilitate work with groups outside of the immediate technical team.
  • Knowledge and experienced in IT methodologies and life cycles that will be used
  • Familiar with solution implementation/management, service/operations management, etc.
  • Maintains close awareness of new and emerging technologies and their potential application for service offerings and products
