Overview
Reporting to the Vice President & General Manager, the Director, Operations Finance oversees the Operations Finance Group including the organization, development, and administration of operational analysis, product costing, standard cost & inventory accounting systems, internal financial controls and procedures that conform to generally accepted accounting principles. Supervise and develop cost accounting staff. Prepare timely and comprehensive reports including periodic financial statements and analysis of financial data. Proactively and effectively interact and communicate with Management Team and other departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, supervision and guidance for finance staff which includes cost accounting, product cost reporting and analysis, operational & financial analysis, inventory accounting, planning and budgeting
- Oversee all aspects of cost accounting including financial reporting, improving and maintaining standard costing system and strengthening internal financial controls and information systems
- Prepare analysis of capital expenditure requirements based on forecasted demand, capacity constraints and machine utilization assumptions
- Establish cost accounting procedures and gross margins for various markets, product lines and customers
- Provide financial analysis metrics to strategically evaluate company projects, programs, capital expenditures, product costs, where necessary
- Mentor, evaluate and develop staff and encourage continuing education and specific skills training for the Finance Team
- Partner with Operations in preparation of the annual budget for Cost of Goods Sold (Direct Labor, Material Cost, Overhead and other costs), Operating Expenses and Capital Expenditure Requirements in addition to overhead absorption rates, allocations and other assumptions
- Prepare and ensure accuracy of month-end GL account reconciliation and post month-end, closing journal entries and preparing financial statements and all related supplemental accounting reports
- Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of cost accounting and accounting control procedures
- Monitor, review, and improve accounting related systems and reports for accuracy, effectiveness, internal controls, and completeness
- In collaboration with the Vice President & General Manager, prepare and review financial portion of the 5-Year Strategic Plan, Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and department budgets
- Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure expenditure control for cash flow purposes
- Recommend, develop and maintain financial data bases, computer software systems and eliminate manual filing systems
- Supervise the input and maintenance of financial data and reports for the companys automated financial systems
- Interact with department managers on an ongoing basis regarding their budgets and variance analysis
- Provide accounting policy guidance and direction for organization
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree in Accounting or MBA preferred; CPA or CMA a plus
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience within a manufacturing environment with at least 5 years of experience as Controller, Director Financial Planning & Analysis or Plant Controller
- Hands on operational experience within a manufacturing environment is highly preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Excellent knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- In-depth knowledge of general accounting principles with significant focus on financial reporting & analysis and cost accounting
- Strong understanding of Cost/Management Accounting Principles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong drive, initiative and work ethic – Willingness to “roll up your sleeves” to get the job done
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong critical thinking, analytic and problem-solving skills
- Previous experience in budgeting and planning for a multi-site manufacturing company
- Advanced large-scale tier 1 ERP/MRP skills & experience – Preferably in JDE E1
- Experience with end of month system processes
- Advanced Excel skills and thorough understanding of other MS Office products
- Initiative to work both independently and within a team setting
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing priorities
- Ability to occasionally work after hours and weekends to support month end and yearend closing activities and the annual audit
- Ability to occasionally travel to other company facilities
Salary range for this position is $175k-190k per year.
