Founded in 1980, Hillsboro Aviation offers complete helicopter and airplane services comprised of five divisions: contract & charter, aircraft sales & management, service center, FBO, and parts sales. Serving domestic and international markets in the government, commercial, and private sectors, we have 10 aircraft and over 85 employees. We operate out of our award-winning headquarters at the Portland-Hillsboro Airport (KHIO).

The Contract & Charter Division
Hillsboro Aviation’s helicopter contract & charter division specializes in aerial firefighting, search and rescue, powerline/pipeline support, and other utility operations. Our fleet is comprised of Airbus H145D3, Bell 205A-1++, Bell 407, Bell 407HP, Airbus AS350B3e and MD500E.
Our operations are primarily conducted under Part 135, and we are a Department of Defense Commercial Airlift Review Board (CARB) approved air carrier for both helicopter and airplane. Our SMS has achieved IS-BAO Stage 3 and our QMS (Quality Management System) is AS9110C certified.
The Position
The Director Maintenance manages maintenance on our fleet, currently consisting of 10 aircraft including H145D3, B205A-1++, B407, B407HP, AS350B3e, MD500E, and King Air 200C. The Director of Maintenance reports to the Director of Operations and works closely with senior management, the Part 145 Accountable Manager, Director of Quality, lead mechanics, the fleet maintenance team (currently 10-12 mechanics depending on time of year), the records department, the FAA, and customers including but not limited to USFS, DOI, and DoD in support of nationwide Part 135 utility and charter operations including both field maintenance and shop maintenance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Holding the FAA Part 135 Director of Maintenance title
- Overseeing maintenance quality, efficiency, contract and regulatory compliance on all company-owned Part 135, Part 133, and Part 91 aircraft
- Tracking, forecasting, budgeting, and scheduling fleet maintenance operations
- Assisting the operations team in coordinating maintenance logistics to maximize aircraft availability
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications/Licenses:
Required Skills/Experience:
- 10+ years FAA A&P experience in relevant industry segments
- 5+ years’ experience maintaining utility helicopter field operations
- Director of Maintenance experience
- Clean record/history with FAA and primary customer base (USFS/DOI/DoD)
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- USFS/DOI card-able for B205, B407, H125, H145
- FAA Inspection Authorization
- Experience leading a team of 10+ mechanics
- Experience maintaining twin-engine helicopters
- Experience with budgeting and managing a P&L
- Experience managing international maintenance operations
- CDL w/ Hazmat
- Experience maintaining King Airs
- FAA Pilot Certificate
