JOB PURPOSE
The Director of Maintenance (DOM) reports to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and manages the assigned business units to achieve operational objectives. The DOM ensures that all repair station maintenance and component services operations comply with FAA-accepted RSM/QCM, relevant FAA regulatory requirements, and other applicable regulatory agency guidelines (e.g., EASA, Aruba, etc.). The position has overall authority and responsibility for maintenance, including developing department policies and procedures, preparing annual operating budgets for expenses, facilities, supplies, personnel, training, and capital expenses, and advising the executive team on the status and requirements for aircraft and other equipment consistent with the company needs. The DOM maintains the highest level of safety, service, and standards for the facility or area(s) of responsibility.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands: Requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Requires frequent walking, bending, stooping, squatting, climbing, and reaching above shoulder level. Requires occasional crawling, crouching, kneeling, and balancing. Requires frequent lifting, carrying pushing or pulling weight up to 10 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Work Location: Aircraft Maintenance Hangar, Maintenance Office.
Potential Hazards: Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, materials identified on Safety Data Sheets, working around moving machinery.
Protective Equipment Required: Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, respirators, dust masks, protective clothing.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions:
- Directs and supervises assigned business units, ensuring compliance with technical data, FAA regulations, and Ascent Aviation policies and procedures. Reviews and maintains the availability of technical data and procedure manuals.
- Maintains positive employee relations, promoting Mission, Vision, and Core Values. Consistently practices Company&39;s management principles, policies, and programs.
- Provides managerial authority and for all processes of the Maintenance Departments, including Maintenance Control, Line Station Maintenance and Technical Support.
- Provides strong leadership in customer relations and ensures customer satisfaction for maintenance-related matters.
- Establishes and executes programs for continuous improvement in safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and cost control.
- Ensures appropriate labor, support services, tooling, and equipment are available to meet short and long-term operational objectives.
- Ensures technical resources have the training and certifications to comply with Repair Station and customer requirements.
- Coordinates with business unit leaders and supporting departments to establish work priorities, workflows, and standards and resolves work-related issues.
- Provides overall authority for all aircraft technical standards and acceptable deviations from Company maintenance policies and procedures that are not detrimental to airworthiness.
- Develops short and long-range plans and schedules for assigned business units, ensuring compliance with customer requirements in a cost-effective and timely manner.
- Develops and recommends budgets, authorizes expenditures, and approves budgets and expenses of subordinates.
- Monitors the performance of subordinates, providing prompt and objective coaching and counseling.
- Prepares the annual budgetary requirements for all maintenance departments.
- Acts as a FAA contact for matters regarding the Maintenance Department as described in this position description.
- Responsible for the maintenance of aircraft, engines, and components in the manner prescribed by the RSM/QCM, manufacturers’ maintenance and overhaul manuals, service bulletins, ADs, Engineering Orders, and applicable CFRs.
- Effectively communicates plans and progress within areas of responsibility.
- Consults with relevant management segments to improve policy or practice effectiveness.
- Acts within the scope of authority, consistent with company and corporate objectives, guidelines, policies, and practices, and develops original ideas and methods as necessary.
Marginal Job Functions:

QUALIFICATIONS
- Superior communication and organizational skills required.
- Must be target-oriented and self-directed.
- Experience in the aerospace industry, in engineering or fabrication projects specific to Landing Gear.
- Available for business travels, participation in conferences & trade shows.
- Excellent management skills.
- Excellent English communication skills, written and spoken.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to analyze data and generate inventory and revenue forecasts.
