Job Description:

PURPOSE: The Director, Pricing & Revenue is responsible for three critical commercial functions central to the airline’s profitability - pricing, yield management, and revenue analysis and forecasting. This person will lead small but high-performing team to ensure the airline has a clearly defined pricing and yield management strategy that properly supports the airline’s ultra-low-fare business model as well as its differentiated commercial strategy. This person will work collaboratively with other teams including but not limited to network planning and scheduling, ancillary revenues, e-commerce/distribution, marketing and financial planning and analysis. The Director, Pricing & Revenue will report to the Head of Revenue Management and focus on building out the revenue management team, processes, and systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and execute the airline’s overall revenue management strategy, consistent with overall corporate and commercial strategy, to drive profitable revenue growth.
  • Provide strong and inspired leadership, direction, and oversight to the Revenue Management team across Pricing, Yield Management, & Revenue Analysis.
  • Lead the annual passenger revenue budget and ongoing passenger revenue forecast, in collaboration with Finance.
  • Present revenue results to senior leadership and inform leadership of the background to such results and on industry trends and issues.
  • Evaluate, select, and effectively implement and/or build a next generation revenue management system, ensuring the function makes optimal use of the most modern technologies and approaches and is suited to Avelo’s core business functions
  • Serve as the key catalyst for introducing efficient thinking, approaches, practices, processes, tools and systems into the airline’s Revenue Management function.
  • Measure revenue performance against industry standards and prevailing best practices focusing on increasing absolute and relative unit revenues.
  • Based on the broad direction provided by the operating plan, negotiate and operate within the expense budget for the Revenue Management function.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting on special projects and initiatives.
  • Strong day to day working relationship with the other commercial function leaders to ensure alignment of objectives and to maximize short- and medium- term revenue and profitability
  • As a senior member of the commercial leadership team, contribute to the overall commercial strategy and plan by participating in the ongoing planning process to produce clear and compelling mid- and long-term objectives.
  • Establish strong, trust-based working relationships with the Head of Revenue Management and other members of the senior leadership team.
  • Develop a sound appreciation of Avelo culture and how to effectively adapt and evolve.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in economics, statistics, mathematics, business, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
  • Must possess 5+ years of revenue management experience. 
  • At least 2-3 years of revenue management leadership experience, ideally having led part of a revenue management function within lean and resource-limited environments.
  • Within revenue management, you bring exposure across all three core domains – pricing, yield management, and revenue analysis and forecasting. Brings a deep understanding of revenue management science and economics.
  • Experience in rapid growth contexts wherein the route network and associated revenue management activities are highly dynamic.
  • A proven ability to lead and manage in a change-intensive, complex, analytical, deadline driven environment.
  • Prior experience with various current revenue management systems.
  • A sound knowledge of the U.S. commercial aviation marketplace. 
  • Strong process and systems orientation experience with an ability to put operational disciplines in place, without letting process get in the way of action.
  • Must possess solid judgment skills and the ability to positively influence decision making.
  • Must be willing and able to relocate to the Houston, Texas area or in a hybrid relocation/commuting arrangement.
  • Must be a team-builder with a positive, can-do attitude that is infectious throughout the enterprise and builds teamwork throughout the company.
  • Strong demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have good judgment and the ability to positively influence decision making.
  • Comfortable with getting your hands dirty and doing the “real work,” particularly in the context of a smaller but growing company.
  • Must be a strong problem-solver, driven by facts and fact-based analysis.
  • Must be action-oriented and results-driven and love working with a diverse team.

X-FACTORS:

  • Commercial airline experience within revenue management.
  • A graduate degree and advanced executive leadership courses highly desirable.
  • Experience with AvGeek.
