Key Responsibilities: The Enterprise Communications Manager supports the teams mission to create relatable, clear communications that bring to life our company strategy and cultural priorities for employees across the company. The role will partner with senior leaders and other Corporate Communications teams to build and deliver communications strategies that drive awareness, understanding and pride in who we are and what we stand for. This role will be a part of the team that delivers company news daily to our 100,000+ employees across the globe, with a goal to inform, educate and inspire – ultimately influencing how employees feel about working at United. The ideal candidate is a curious, creative thinker, with a willingness to travel regularly to United locations as a roving reporter and to build relationships across the enterprise to unearth the best employee stories.This is a Chicago-based, hybrid role that will require 2-3 days in office per week.
- Conduct interviews, research, seek out, pitch and write stories
- Plan, lead and execute end-to-end campaigns that connect the dots between new projects, operational and company goals and the people behind the scenes
- Provide/recommend engagement communications support to key projects impacting the business
- Edit team content for United brand, tone & voice compliance
- Work closely with writers, designers and photographers to ensure publishing deadlines are met
- Provide communications counsel/support for key subject matter experts
- Contribute creative ideas and approaches to employee communications
- Travel as a roving reporter for research, meetings and events as necessary

QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications): - Bachelors degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related field
- 4+ years of corporate communications or newsroom experience
- Demonstrated track record of managing successful, proactive and creative communications campaigns that use a variety of tools, forums and media
- 4+ years writing experience
- Excellent communication skills, including both written and spoken
- Knowledge of AP style writing/editing
- Outstanding business writing and editing skills
- Able to work effectively & efficiently in cross-functional teams
- Proactive, meticulous and well-organized
- Forward-thinking, diligent, creative and curious
- Able to work under tight deadlines and with competing priorities and multiple projects at a time
- A willingness to travel up to 25 of the time for story research and writing
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
