Position Summary:
The General Manager provides executive leadership, ensuring the business unit achieves or exceeds its established operational and financial measures. Determines the overall objectives of the business; formulates plans and policies and allocates resources for the achievement of business unit objectives. Exercises control to see that objectives are achieved in accordance with company policy. Is fully accountable for all business unit results.
Direct reports include functional leads for: Engineering; Environmental, Health and Safety; Finance; Human Resources; Operations; Quality; Sales; Maintenance; and Supply Chain.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manages the P&L and all major site functions, which include operations, finance, sales, human resources, quality, and engineering. When misses occur, develops a credible recovery plan with the team.
- Responsible for: developing people; process improvement; cost controls, quality monitoring and improvements; and customer service optimization.
- Prepares timely and comprehensive reports including analysis of financial data, statements, and audits covering daily flex, weekly battle plan, and monthly and quarterly business reviews. Presents information as required.
- Performs tactical and strategic planning, consistent with Division and Corporate objectives. Coordinates with appropriate corporate and divisional staff to identify organic and/or acquisition related growth opportunities.
- Develops and organizes the management resources necessary to direct the major functions of the business. Ensures that an adequate supply of talent exists to staff the short- and long-term needs of the business unit.
- Assesses the business implications and potential of identified marketing, legislative and financial trends; encourages innovations in testing development, marketing and technology; directs and participates in growth activities of the business unit.
- Represents the business unit as required on customer visits.
- Ensures that the business unit operates at the highest level of business ethics. Ensures that the business unit is in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations. Ensures that all reporting is accurate and consistent with appropriate accounting and financial standards. Ensures that all corporate requirements are met.
- Ensures that quality systems meet or exceed customer and industry standards.
- Ensures that the interests and welfare of employees are preserved and protected.
- Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement in the attainment of corporate goals.
- Establish and execute capital planning efforts supporting manufacturing.

- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations and priorities.
- Proven ability to lead large organization in a fast-paced short cycle environment.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or engineering from an accredited institution; MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of operations experience in a highly focused, metric driven organization with a revenue of 200+ million
- 5+ years P&L experience, including sales and marketing leadership highly preferred.
- 2+ years of General Manager experience overseeing functional leaders
- 10+ years in Aerospace Manufacturing; Forgings experience a plus
