What You Can Expect

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Business Development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the business development efforts, driving strategic growth initiatives, and fostering strong relationships

with key stakeholders including sales, customers, and vendors. This role requires a visionary leader with deep [Gulfstream] knowledge and a proven track record of success in developing new business opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:
  2. Implement and execute the 5-year business development strategy to drive growth in the [Gulfstream] Program.
  3. Identify new spanet opportunities and develop plans to capitalize on them.
  4. Lead business development execution to include collaborating with other stakeholders to provide guidance, support and mentoring as necessary.
  5. Market Analysis and Planning:
  6. Conduct thorough spanet research to identify 3-5 year opportunities, trends, the competitive landscape, and potential areas for growth.
  7. Analyze spanet data to inform strategic decisions and business planning [to include targeting specific airframe models vs sunsetting others].
  8. Develop and present business cases for new initiatives and investments.
  9. Sales and Customer Engagement:
  10. Collaborate with the sales team to align on business development strategies with sales objectives in their program and/or region.
  11. Maintain strong relationships with existing key customers while more specifically focusing on identifying, building, nurturing and securing new customers.
  12. Support the sales team in high-stakes negotiations and closing key deals.
  13. Operational Alignment:
  14. Collaborate with Technical Services to develop capabilities and capacity requirements.
  15. Vendor and OEM Management:
  16. Develop and maintain relationships with strategic vendors and OEMs.
  17. Participate in key OEM events and advisory boards.
  18. Participate in contract and agreement negotiations as requested.
  19. Reporting and Analytics:
  20. Prepare and present regular reports on business development activities, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives.
  21. Analyze business performance to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
  22. Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

 

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Preference given to candidates who possess a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Aviation Management, or a related field; A&P license preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a senior level position driving business aviation sales, airframe platform management or ideally business development.
  • Demonstrate a critical thinking mindset, seeing ahead to future opportunities and translating them into breakthrough strategies with an achievable execution plan.
  • Ability to articulate business development strategy that motivates others to act including gaining the trust and commitment of others.
  • Capable of adapting approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations and/or people.
  • Ability to recognize the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization.
  • Known for effectively building formal and informal relationships and networks inside the company, with customers and the industry at large.
  • Skilled at using compelling arguments to gain support and commitment of others.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with customers, vendors, and attend industry events.
