Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:  The Helicopter Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for impacting Summit Aviation’s safety of its customers and employees by providing supervision over all helicopter personnel; ensuring that they properly execute all maintenance updates, and the helicopter is prepared and ready for release; operates in compliance with company safety practices; and performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  1. Demonstrates a safe and compliant work environment by complying with Safety Policy and Procedures Manual and General Maintenance Manual policies and procedures as well as ensuring compliance of technicians.
  2. Schedule and ensure that adequate coverage is provided while maintenance is being performed on multiple helicopters.
  3. Provide reports to the Programs group and the Director of Operations for Over and Above’s, Delays, and Irregularities.
  4. Sign maintenance release in accordance with the 145 Repair Station.
  5. Ensure that the technicians properly document work performed, and inspection complete on the approved 145 work order system.
  6. Coordinate the program group ensuring the entire scope of work is complete and is on schedule.
  7. Monitor helicopter appearance and ensure ready for customer delivery.
  8. Coordinate with Programs, Production Planning, and support departments.
  9. Ensure adequate tool inventories are maintained, and proper use of these tools is observed.
  10. Deliver pre-shift briefings to ensure the team is well informed and creating opportunity for open dialogue.
  11. During the performing of maintenance, preventive maintenance, alterations or other functions affecting helicopter airworthiness, the Maintenance Supervisor will be available for consultation and decision making on matters requiring instruction or decision from higher authority than that of the persons performing the work.
  12. Provide direct supervision of the Lead Mechanic.
  13. Delegates duties as necessary, although this does not relieve the Supervisor of the responsibility.
  14. Responsible for the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.
  15. Operates in compliance with company safety practices: complies with and aids in the development of departmental safety rules; ensures all equipment is in good working order and operates in a safe manner; monitors area for hazards; and maintains a safe and clean work area.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification required.
  3. At least 10 years aviation maintenance experience required.
  4. Ability to speak/read/write in English required.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to sit; walk, talk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop or crouch.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions such as extreme cold and heat, work near moving mechanical parts and vibration and work in high, precarious places.  Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and work with explosives.  The noise level in the work environment falls within acceptable limits of OSHA guidelines.
