Job Description

The Maintenance Manager reports directly to the Director of Technical Services and is responsible for overseeing and conducting aircraft maintenance for the fleet of owned, operated, and maintained aircraft as well as administering all duties and responsibilities from a technical perspective associated with aircraft maintenance.

The Maintenance Manager should possess a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts. Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, a basic understanding of electrical theory, and familiarity with aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and shears is necessary. This job entails a working knowledge of technical publications.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:

  • Planning and controlling all aircraft maintenance.
  • Controlling and maintaining the annual maintenance budget.
  • Provide leadership to aircraft maintenance staff.
  • Organize and direct the operation of the maintenance department.
  • Provide guidance and support for the development of personnel.
  • Ensure that maintenance personnel have obtained the necessary courses and instructions prior to working on the types of aircraft and aeronautical products listed on the company’s AMO Ratings Certificate.
  • Ensure that there is a high standard of workmanship and training.
  • Ensure annual reviews are completed for all maintenance personnel, in accordance with company HR policies.
  • Ensure the custody and control of technical records.
  • Ensure that maintenance personnel have access to the MCM/MPM.
  • Submits SDR to Transport Canada as required.
  • Ensure that all requested ADs and mandatory inspections have been completed within the required time limits.
  • Perform maintenance activities as required.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and appraise direct reports.
  • In conjunction with the SMS Manager and the Operations Manager, maintain the SMS System and an open channel of communication with all regulatory agencies.
  • Investigate incidences and create, implement and evaluate Corrective Action Plans to address active failure and latent conditions where applicable.
  • Liaising with all non-company persons or Approved Maintenance Organizations (AMOs) or Certified Repair Stations performing maintenance on KBA aircraft;
  • Assist with the assessment of aircraft cost studies.

Qualifications

  • Transport Canada issued M1 and/or M2 license.
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in Aircraft Line Maintenance.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems as they occur.
  • Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements of the airport authority and/or airline customers related to health and safety and/or access to the airport, airplanes, and related equipment.
