As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will plan, schedule, direct and supervise the day to day operations and staff to complete repairs, corrective and scheduled maintenance of equipment to meet operational needs in line with the agreed service and safety standards. Responsible for monitoring and controlling of maintenance jobs through detailed inspections of the work carried out, ensuring cost effectiveness and quality of maintenance.
In this role, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
· Ensures daily work plans are in place to enable the execution of all planned and scheduled maintenance jobs, and that sufficient material and manpower resources are available to address unplanned breakdown repair jobs.
· Allocates material and manpower resources in accordance with the work plan to ensure that technician teams are effectively utilized to attend to all planned and unplanned maintenance jobs.
· Ensures all maintained equipment meet standards for operability and safety and ensures compliance with general safety procedures in order to prevent personal injury or damage to equipment during maintenance and other technical activities.
· Supports Technicians in managing repair methodologies, parts selection and technical diagnosis to ensure individual repairs and maintenance is conducted safely, efficiently and cost effectively.
· Provides on the job training and support to guide Technicians on maintenance techniques, fault diagnosis and repair, uses of different tools and machinery and safe working techniques to ensure the development of skills, safety, lean and 5S principles at work. This includes familiarisation for new staff.
· Maintains a detailed log of all faults reported on various equipment, corrective actions taken, job durations involved, and spares used, in order to provide data for the Maintenance Management System (MMS). This is to assist the Service Delivery Officer or Service Delivery Manager in evaluating the progress of ongoing workshop activities.
· Continuously suggests and seeks approval for corrective maintenance improvements, modifications to the existing maintenance systems and equipment in order to improve their performance, increase life of equipment, prevent recurrent failure and reduce maintenance costs.
· Maintains close liaison and communication with the Service Delivery Officer or Service Delivery Manager with respect forecasting future spare part and material requirements in order to minimize stock-out situations.
· Ensures all work is undertaken only when the proper safety precautions are in place. This includes pre and post job safety procedures, personal protective equipment and the right work environment for the job.
· Supports Service Delivery Officer/ Service Delivery manager to conduct regular safety briefings, while intervening when there is risk exposure, role model safe behaviours and follows up on corrective actions
