Job Description:

The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for securing major gifts ($10,000+) for the AOPA Foundation.

Portfolio Management

Working collaboratively with the Manager of Development Research, qualify, contact, and cultivate potential donors from the prospect pool of AOPA members and other interested parties
Effectively manage a portfolio of 75-100 donors with the capacity to make $20,000+ annual gifts
Make compelling and effective face-to-face presentations to donors and prospects

Donor Strategy and Reporting

Working with the Manager of Development Research, strategize and secure high-level donor meetings for senior leaders
Working collaboratively with the Director of Database Administration and Reporting, provide donor meeting notes, contact reports, and next steps in a timely manner

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree with at least six years experience in fundraising or development
Willingness to travel nationwide extensively
Experience using donor management system
Adhere to industry standards and best practices and appropriately handle confidential information
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize appropriately to meet deadlines
Excellent attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A diplomatic and tactful approach, especially when communicating with colleagues and supporters
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Aviation industry interest required; experience preferred
