Key Responsibilities:

The Manager – Flight Charter Operations ensures pilots have the information and tools to operate per the global systems Core 4 principles. Reviews and develops Flight Operations content, communications, briefings, and consolidation of engineering analysis conducted at the request of the UAL Charter department as directed by the Sr Manager of Charter Flight Operations. This leader ensures all Flight Ops charter operations align with United Airlines Part 119 certificate requirements, including Flight Operations policy, aircraft fleet-specific policy and procedure, and FAA Operations Specifications. The Sr Manager coordinates and leads the assigned scope of responsibility among cross-functional groups to author and publish all charter operations policies and procedures while leading, developing, and mentoring the Manager of Charter Flight Operations. Conducts on-site analysis and review of charter operations, station startups, and safety risk management as directed.

  • Reviews all Flight Ops charter operations for compliance with all operational, regulatory, and safety requirements
  • This mitigates the risks to the Part 119 Operating certificate by developing the flight operations charter/military station navigation procedures and constructing charter briefing packets and 10-7 charts
  • Provides guidance and leadership to cross-functional groups to author and publish all charter operations policies and procedures
  • Responsible for developing, authorship, and revising charter-specific safety-critical and time-critical publications to include Ops Alerts, CCS Messages, and Pilot Bulletins with final approval from the Sr Manager of Charter Flight Operations and the Director, Flight Ops Policy & Performance
  • Coordinates with the Nav Data Base team to ensure that all navigation information is available prior to the chart operation in three formats: electronic navigation charts, electronic backup charts, and FMC nav data software
  • Ensures coordination with station personnel, local airport authorities, Flight Ops Engineering, and ATC to develop/maintain the charter policies and procedures, including the charter briefings, which provide the required technical information to pilots to operate at each charter station
  • Obtains Station noise abatement and curfew requirements to ensure compliance with local ordinances
  • Assist in developing procedures and policies governing all NRFO 1 operations with Inflight, NOC, Flight Standards, and Corp Security

QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
  • Bachelors degree
  • 4 + years of airline experience
  • ATP or Commercial Pilot experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of airline operations
  • Ability to work cross-divisionally.
  • Highly organized and the ability to multi-task competing priorities, demands, and timelines
  • Provide leadership, guidance, influence and mentoring.
  • Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Has discretion in making tactical decisions; provides input on strategic decisions to management as required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
  • 5 + years’ experience with 121 or 135
  • 4+ years of experience with Airline Charter operations
  • Masters degree or 6 years of relevant work experience
  • 2+ years SMS experience
  • FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certification
  • Air Operations experience
  • Knowledge on the FARs
  • ATC and aircraft operational experience
  • Previous management experience
  • Project management experience
  • Experience drafting, coordinating, vetting, and distributing policy and procedural information
  • Worldwide aeronautical knowledge, including en route and terminal airspace procedures, regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Military airport charter evaluation, including knowledge of arrestor systems
