Manager Geopolitical Threat & Risk

Qatar Airways Security department are seeking an intelligence professional to lead our Geopolitical Threat and Risk team. The team offers an interesting and diverse environment which encourages innovation, initiative and personal development. As Manager Geopolitical Threat and Risk, you will play a pivotal role in assessing and mitigating risks that impact our people, customers, operations and assets across our diverse network. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong analytical and security background, as well as exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills.

In this role you will:

• Lead the team’s intelligence collection, research and analysis capability; ensuring a continuous monitoring of the global security situation and geopolitical events, to identify, assesses and mitigate potential risks to Qatar Airways.  

• Collaborate closely with senior leadership and operational teams to ensure comprehensive risk management strategies are implemented. 

• Brief senior management and key internal stakeholders to support decision making – sometimes in real time -- on a strategic, tactical and operational level.  

• Represent Qatar Airways at internal and external industry forums. Build and maintain professional and trusted relationships with government agencies, law enforcement and security industry experts across the globe to support information sharing. 

• Oversee the team’s delivery of intelligence products and briefings, ensuring a consistently high standard of service delivery. 

• Develop and implement new processes and procedures, ensuring they are rigorous, relevant and in line with international security regulations, with an emphasis on continuous improvement, automation and digitalization.

Candidates with the following background and qualifications will be considered for this position:

Qualifications:

• College or University qualification to min Bachelors level

Previous Experience:

• Minimum 8 years relevant experience
• Experience in security intelligence, from a government or private sector background
• Experience in the conduct of security threat and risk assessments/surveys
• Experience in security threat and risk management within a global landscape
• Previous experience in the aviation sector desirable

Job Specific Skills: 

• Proven experience in geopolitical risk analysis, risk management, and/or intelligence analysis.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex geopolitical situations coupled with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with an ability to convey insights clearly and concisely.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills with an ability to build relationships, influence and maintain dialogue with managers, staff and external stakeholders at all levels.
