Position Summary:
This role is responsible for the management and administration of the company’s US Health and insurance benefit plans for active employees and retirees, including plan design recommendations, administration, vendor management, participant communication, financial management and compliance related activities.
This role will collaborate with the Director, Global Benefits & Governance to recommend the strategic direction and ensure alignment of the US health and insurance programs within our Total Rewards strategy.
Scope/Supervision and Interaction:
Reports to and receives direction from the Director, Global Benefits & Governance. Interfaces with internal and external customers in the US; Human Resources, Finance, Tax and Legal team members; along with numerous vendors. Has direct reports.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the development of both short-term and long-term US health and insurance plan designs and cost management strategies in partnership with members of a cross-functional team. Conduct regular competitive benchspaning analyses and observe regulatory and legislative changes to develop strategy on recommended changes as required.
- Execute on health, insurance, and wellness benefits to support the needs of our inclusive employee population.
- Work with external partners to deliver programs to team members in a seamless and efficient manner.
- Responsible for maintaining the Company’s US healthcare costs and identifying drivers that impact the cost, quality, and delivery of healthcare. Role will analyze and evaluate historical claims data and utilization patterns to understand the trends, assess the risk, and make proactive financial recommendations.
- Management responsibility for the daily administration of each of the US health and insurance plans.
- Manage US Health & Insurance Plan vendor relationships including carriers, plan administrators, actuary, and any other vendor which may be required.
- Responsible for the identification, implementation and management of appropriate care management and disease management programs that can improve outcomes.
- Responsible for the integration of acquisitions into the Company’s benefit plans and assisting with divestiture activities.
- Assist HR leaders with collective bargaining agreement support as needed.
- Monitor regulatory developments and ensure compliance with U.S. requirements, including COBRA, ACA, ERISA, and HIPAA and other state and local regulatory requirements.
- Participate with broader Total Rewards team to deliver comprehensive annual communications that support annual enrollment, wellness initiatives, and other ad hoc communication campaigns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required.
- Seven to ten years related experience including a minimum of four to six years experience in US health and insurance plans.
- Knowledge of and/or ability to interpret applicable laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Expert understanding of the US healthcare and insurance industries and each of their core concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage large scale projects with competing priorities.
- Highly organized, able to handle multiple projects, with a demonstrable track record of getting things done.
- Logical persuader with the ability to deliver effective and engaging presentations on complex topics to a variety of audiences.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite including advanced knowledge of Excel.
