Responsibilities

The Manager, Ancillary Products is one of the driving forces of revenue creation and maximization for one of the fastest growing airlines on Earth.  With ancillary products representing a large portion of the organization’s revenue, you’ll have a Captain’s seat as you help re-define and shape the future of our existing non-ticket products and optional services (i.e. bags, seats, combos/bundles, and new products and services you’ll get to create and manage).  If you’re a creative product manager with a passion for thinking outside the box, inside the box, and everywhere in between, we’d love to have you join our team.

 

  • Product Management – From ideation to execution, this position is the driving force behind new product initiatives.  Define the new product opportunities and roadmap. Working with a cross-section of team members to ensure all aspects of the business are considered when making the best overall product decision. 
  • Directly work with external partners to manage existing products and expand the current offerings to take advantage of changing travel patterns and customer experiences.
  • Create new ancillary products/services – Work with the Ancillary Products team to create new products and services that increase the ancillary revenue. Collaborating with stakeholders to become the subject matter expert ensuring our new products and product revision requirements meet the objectives of the organization.  Work closely with IT Business Analysts and members of the Ecommerce team to understand system limitations/ workarounds and documenting required functionality to drive and deliver on key ancillary initiatives. Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples.
  • Monitor what’s new in the travel industry – Knowing what other travel businesses are doing, especially in the airline industry, is key to ensuring our products remain competitive.  You will help ensure we always keep a close eye on changes that others make inside and outside the industry to ensure Spirit stays competitive. Be an expert with respect to the competition.
  • Analysis and Reporting – Knowing the performance of our key products and services is crucially important.  You will work closely with our ancillary pricing team to ensure you are aware of new pricing opportunities and work in tandem to create opportunities that further our competitive pricing initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent distribution and marketing – Work to ensure that we’re adequately pushing our optional services in all appropriate channels, including working closely with our 3rd party distribution and brand communications team.  Ensure that all product information is consistent, up to date, and on brand throughout all distribution channels and work closely with internal training teams to ensure team members have the best information to assist our Guests.
  • Deliver marketing communications briefs to outline the requirements and needs to create supporting marketing initiatives for each product.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, Product Marketing, Marketing Partnerships, International Business, Communications or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Business Management, Marketing, Product Marketing, Marketing Partnerships, International Business, Communications or related field.
  • 2+ yrs. exp. Product Management experience is preferred.
  • Prior Aviation/Tourism experience preferred.
  • Product management: Knowledge of the Product Life Cycle and what is necessary to take ideas and turn them into tangible assets by working with all team members across IT, Ecommerce, Operations, Guest Care, Network Planning, Legal, and many other teams to drive ancillary revenue while meeting other business objectives.
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products.
  • Knowledge of product management concepts and principles.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power point).
  • Ability to work autonomously and be held accountable for deliverables and overall performance.
  • A team player with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to break-down large initiatives into iterative steps in a way that optimizes for learnings and delivers incremental business value along the way.
  • Working knowledge of travel web sites (flows, software platforms) and booking engines
  • Proven track-record of organizing, developing, and executing multiple projects with high complexity and ambiguity.
  • Direct written and verbal communication style, with the ability to inspire and motivate others across the company. Ability to communicate to diverse audiences with confidence, clarity, and focus.
  • Basic analytical skills with demonstrated ability to use data to drive decision-making in product development.
  • Domestic travel under 10 of the time.
  • Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
