What Will You Be Doing?
The Distribution Manager maintains and develops relationships with distribution partners (GDSs, alternative aggregators, metasearchers, Self-Booking Tools and OTAs) and ensures the successful running of the technological channels available for those partners. The Distribution Manager is responsible to define business requirements and assess impact on existing business processes and systems to modernize the way Frontier distributes its content via third parties, acting as a subject matter expert for the new API/NDC platform. The Distribution Manager is also responsible to define and optimize onboarding processes to facilitate direct integration of third parties. As an integral part of Frontiers success, Distribution team receives high visibility by senior management and enjoy a range of formal training and informal learning opportunities to support ongoing professional development and career growth.
Essential Functions
- Manage commercial and technical relationships across the different distribution partners.
- Identify and activate new or underutilized distribution channels aligned with Frontiers ULCC model.
- Monitor channel metrics and detect areas or opportunities for improvement.
- Lead projects to enhance third party channels performance and customer experience.
- Develop solutions to address distribution partners needs while ensuring alignment with the distribution strategy of the company.
- Define short- and long-term plans to develop the API/NDC channel, including initiatives to improve adoption and to increase overall revenues of the channel.
- Define business requirements for the API/NDC channel and assess impact on existing processes and systems.
- Work closely with IT to identify technical improvements and prioritize the backlog of the API/NDC channel.
- Leverage data analytics to support prioritization of initiatives and evaluate results of product releases.
- Design and update onboarding processes and documentation to facilitate direct integration of third parties.
- Coordinate support to partners during the development of a direct connection and serve as escalation point for resolution of partner issues.
- Document and communicate (internally and externally) the launch of new products and features in the API/NDC platform.
- Present project status, risks and recommendations to different levels of audience.
- Ensure distribution partners comply with Frontiers regulations and policies.
- Ensure Frontier content is properly displayed in MSE and OTA partners websites.
- Keep up-to-date on technology standards, industry trends and best practices in airline distribution.
Other Functions
- Interact with commercial teams (Commercial Analytics, Digital, Ancillaries, Pricing, Revenue Management, Revenue Integrity, Marketing and Network planning) and cross-departmental areas (Finance, Customer Care, IT, etc.) to define projects requirements and optimize Frontiers distribution and sales functions.
- Actively communicate and promote new services, schedules and product enhancements to all third-party distribution and sales partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required; major(s) in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Aviation Management or related field strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of travel industry distribution, preferably in other airlines, service providers or online travel agencies.
- 2+ years of professional experience managing products or API integrations.
- 2+ years of professional experience in sales or vendor management.
- Project management background and experience working with agile methodology.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Solid understanding of airline distribution environment and its evolution.
- Understanding of online selling processes, revenue management principles, e-commerce platforms, Global Distribution Systems, online booking tools and travel technology infrastructures.
- Knowledge of Navitaire reservation system and IATA NDC (New Distribution Capability) schema desired.
- Comfortable gathering data, analyzing problems, and identifying possible and creative solutions for improvement.
- Excellent analytical skills, including capacity to assemble information and draw logical conclusions, with ability to translate detailed complexity into simple clear messages.
- Capacity to articulate and translate the product vision into a roadmap.
- Previous experience working with delivery teams and software development tools, like Azure DevOps, Jira or Confluence.
- Strong organizational and planning skills; comfortable working independently, prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, while keeping track of several projects at the same time.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; having ability to drive buy-in from diverse stakeholders.
- Strong work ethic; delivers results in ambiguous and time-pressured situations.
