Primary Objective of the Position:The Manager, Financial Analysis and Spend Optimization plays a critical role within the Finance team by evaluating significant business expenditures to uncover opportunities for improved contracts and enhanced cost efficiencies. Additionally, this role is responsible for managing risk and actively overseeing Cargojets insurance program. The incumbent will assess current insurance coverage—including premiums and deductions—and identify opportunities to enhance business compliance with risk mitigation strategies, ultimately reducing costs. The successful candidate will partner with cross-functional teams, develop actionable insights to help drive successful financial, commercial, and cost management strategies.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Financial Analysis & Spend Optimization
- Assess key business expenditures to identify cost-saving opportunities and avenues for renegotiating vendor contracts.
- Develop and maintain financial models and analytical tools to support decision-making and track performance.
Contract Compliance & Vendor Management
- Monitor compliance with contractual obligations and report deviations or opportunities for improvement.
- Evaluate existing vendor contracts and provide recommendations for renegotiation or replacement.
Risk Management & Insurance Program Oversight
- Manage Cargojets insurance program, conducting thorough assessments of current insurance coverage, including premiums and deductions.
- Actively identify and implement opportunities to improve compliance with risk mitigation strategies, resulting in reduced costs.
Strategic Reporting & Decision Support
- Create and manage comprehensive reporting frameworks and dashboards that provide insights into spend, compliance, risk management, and overall financial performance.
- Present data-driven recommendations and strategic insights to the Senior Manager, Corporate Reporting.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with procurement, operations, and other key departments to ensure alignment of financial strategies with business objectives.
- Lead initiatives aimed at process improvements and enhanced financial efficiency.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance within the finance team.
Other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications:Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in finance, business analytics, or related fields, with a focus on contract management, spend analysis, risk management, and financial reporting.
- Proven track record in assessing business expenditures, optimizing contracts, managing insurance programs, and delivering actionable insights.
- Experience with SAP and similar ERP systems is required.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- CPA designation is preferred, MBA Finance will also be considered
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
- Good communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial data.
- Demonstrated cross-functional team management experience.
- Solid understanding of procurement processes, vendor management, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Willingness to learn, consistently deliver on timelines, and consistently improve performance are key enablers to be successful in this role.
