Job Description SummaryNew Product Introduction Sourcing Leader for all Cheltenham Avionics and Power Programs, including Engineering Services. Responsible for leading a team that delivers the introduction of newly sourced technology materials into GE to meet the requirements of new development programs. Liaise with the broader business to integrate Sourcing into strategy development and technology road maps. Remove all barriers and issues to successfully deliver material for on time NPI programs, while ensuring compliance with process. The scope of activity will vary from program to program but shall include the development of GE’s existing supply base, influencing current sourcing strategies and introduction of new product technologies and processes to meet customer requirements.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Sourcing NPI program leads, forming close relationship with program leadership and engineering project teams.
- Ensure sourcing has earliest possible engagement in all new programs and ensure team delivers the best sourcing approach with strong value to the business.
- Drive a Total Cost of Ownership approach within GE & supply base.
- Drive and influence technical innovation within the supply base and internal stakeholders to deliver solutions based on product/technology roadmaps and program/customer needs.
- Provide sourcing delivery status on NPI programs into business and customer reviews.
- Develop NPI sourcing strategy for new programs, influencing and working with all relevant functions including commodity stakeholders as appropriate. Assess supplier capabilities as required (new materials, processes and suppliers).
- Hold regular reviews with Sourcing NPI program leads on program strategy and status.
- Lead Make vs Buy assessment and presentation of proposals into the business
- Drive a Design for Cost and Design for Manufacture methodology, motivating others where appropriate.
- Integrate Sourcing into the Technology and Product road map development
- Review commercial input into bids and proposals for new projects and technology enablers.
- Understand and be accountable for sourcing compliance and its documentation.
Qualifications and background- Prior experience in sourcing strategy and execution
- Extensive exposure to all business functions within a manufacturing / engineering environment
- Proven experience in a leadership role
- Technical expertise would be extremely beneficial
- Commercial acumen & negotiation skills
