Role Summary

The Principal Inflight Entertainment & Connectivity (IFEC) Product Manager is the subject matter expert for inflight entertainment and connectivity products and strategies at Alaska Air Group. As an individual contributor, this role defines long-term strategy and exercises considerable latitude and initiative to manage entertainment products, program analytics, and reporting.

Key Duties

  • As the lead subject matter expert in inflight entertainment and connectivity products and strategies, oversees matrixed teams of cross functional stakeholders and establishes priorities for proprietary, branded wireless IFE program (e.g., content procurement and mix, vendor management, rentable device program, music program, P&L, and evolution of products) across entire fleet.

  • Defines long-term strategy across the company and several levels up around inflight connectivity program and products (Wi-Fi) and current and future technologies (e.g., pricing strategy, budget and accounting ROI, promotions, enhancements, and vendor management). This includes directing cross-functional teams for the implementation of both product strategies across all fleets.

  • Exercises ownership and oversight entertainment program content, including decisions related to content curation, partnerships, vendor selection, products, pricing, and policies.

  • Influences across Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air with peers and senior leaders to gain consensus, determine strategies, and implement resulting programs (e.g., Flight Operations, IT, Maintenance & Engineering, Marketing, Inflight, etc.), as well as key external vendors to ensure integrity of the Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air brand experience.

  • Cultivates new entertainment partnerships to enhance the product offering and increase guest participation/satisfaction. Negotiates contracts with vendors for services, content, and advertising.

  • Provides input into the strategy for future hardware and software investments that enhance the entertainment and Wi-Fi products. Researches, assesses, and recommends current and future IFE and connectivity offerings.

  • Fosters positive, collaborative relationships with vendor partners which results in improved business results for both Alaska and its partners.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 7+ years of experience in consumer product marketing, preferably with an emphasis on consumer-facing digital platforms, or related area.

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in marketing or a related discipline, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • Deeply passionate about the end-user experience.

  • Ability to set strategy and lead cross-functional teams.

  • Strong communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening), with the experience to interact and communicate effectively across business units with leaders and employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Airline industry experience.

  • Knowledge of inflight connectivity systems and related technologies (IFEC systems).

  • Knowledge of Wi-Fi standards, protocols, and monitoring tools.

Salary Range

$117,500 - $176,300 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
