We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead and oversee the activities of the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF) Detachment in Guam. The Production Manager will provide general guidance and strategic direction across various production groups, ensuring the successful execution of maintenance and repair projects for US Navy submarines and vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide overall guidance and leadership to the Structural Group, Mechanical Group, Electrical and Electronics Group, Piping Group, Preservation Group, Temporary Services Group, and Combat Systems.
- Review work plans for feasibility, soundness of approach, compatibility with other work, and effectiveness in meeting requirements and achieving expected results.
- Act as the single Point of Contact (POC) for all communication between Navy/DoD personnel and contractors.
- Submit quarterly reports on project status, progress, materials, budget, operational expenses, and any deficiencies to the Detachment Guam COR.
- Ensure that all production work aligns with project objectives and complies with safety, quality, and operational standards.
- Lead discussions on project requirements, availability of materials, and changes to preliminary plans and estimates.
- Monitor work progress, evaluate operations, and ensure that all trades work is completed according to schedules and specifications.
- Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the course of production work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Naval Shipyard Production Work on Los Angeles Class and Virginia Class submarines.
- Expert-level knowledge in naval shipyard production processes, with at least 10 years of experience as a first-line supervisor or work leader in a production trade.
- Proven leadership experience in managing large teams and overseeing complex production projects in a shipyard environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple facets of production work and relay information effectively between different stakeholders.
- Ability to evaluate work plans, identify potential issues, and recommend effective solutions to ensure project success.
Educational Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, Industrial Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Equivalent experience in naval shipyard production and management may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance with a red badge.
- Ability to stand, crawl, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds, and distinguish colors as needed.
- Must be able to obtain a DBIDS or Common Access Card (CAC) clearance.
- Background vetting is required, including an FBI fingerprint check or equivalent.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical and any subsequent annual physicals.
- Must be able to obtain a government-issued passport and be willing to travel as required.
- Non-government-furnished cell phones are not allowed in Shipyard-controlled spaces; any contractor-furnished computer equipment must be approved by Shipyard Code 109 Information Technology and Cyber Security.
