Job Description SummaryPerform the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line. Includes Service Shops. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
Oversight and management of front-line manufacturing employees. Typically managing technician/production shop floor employee
Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
Determine and implement improvements to the production process and cycle time.
Make decisions about equipment use, maintenance, human and materials resources
Work out/Set and adhere to standard operating procedures for production operations.
Ensure implementation and adherence to 5S, quality control and safety procedures
Monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement.
Monitor production cost and overheads and drive process improvement and resources to minimise operating cost
Maximise operations efficiency and coordinates with production to ensure on-time delivery
Resolve problems on site as they arise, reducing the impact of unforeseen difficulties
Support customer service in resolution of customer concerns
Build positive working relationships within the group and serve as point of contact for broader corporate initiatives
Improve employee motivation and performance
Ensure a clean and maintained environment
Directs daily department activities in order to maximize equipment utilization and
Review and establishes material, equipment and manpower resource requirements
Coordinates maintenance activities with other functional groups such as engineering and operations
Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the departmental function
Qualifications / Requirements:
Degree/ Bachelors in Mechanical/ Manufacturing / or related engineering
Min 7 or more years’ previous management experience in a hands on, manufacturing environment
Prior experience in aviation industry is additional advantage
Proven leadership skills, with a strong focus on plant and business processes.
Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles.
Knowledge in LEAN tools and methods in production line, proven track record in executing projects
