Primary Job Duties
We are currently looking for a leader to oversee the Corporate Dangerous Goods/Hazardous Materials and Environmental Programs. In this position, you will be expected to:
- Oversight of the SkyWest (DG/HM) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) compliance programs
- Ensuring Company policies and guidelines relating to DG/HM and EPA requirements are documented, implemented and followed to achieve regulatory compliance and safety objectives
- Establishing and updating all policies, procedures, instructions, and information contained in DG/HM and associated environmental manuals
- Maintaining knowledge of all current IATA, ICAO, PHMSA and applicable CFRs specific to DG/HM transportation by air
- Ensuring distribution of addendums to the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations
- Reviewing partner carrier DG/HM programs for impact on SkyWest Airlines
- Ensuring compliance of DG/HM regulatory and safety requirements
- Maintaining knowledge of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and requirements
- Ensuring Storm Water and Air Quality permits are acquired as needed for SkyWest operations
- Investigating, responding to and closing DG/HM and EPA findings and compliance actions
- Functioning as the DG/HM and EPA subject matter expert
- Attending Company and industry DG/HM working group meetings
- Creating and updating training materials as needed
- Serving on the Chemical Review Committee
- Reviewing and updating Company DG/HM and Environmental manuals
- Developing Monthly Safety Topics for Facility Safety Committees
- Performing Risk Assessments, as required
- Performing Hazard Assessments of SkyWest facilities
- Generating employee safety recommendations to all departments
- Serving as the DG/HM Manager-on-Duty by being available 24/7 for operational questions and events
