Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Solutions (LMDS) has an exciting career opportunity for a Project Manager - 2 / Principal Project Manager - 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

The Project Manager / Principal Project Manager will join the Missile Defense Solutions (MDS) Team to work on the Gound-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon Systems (GWS) Program.

Responsibilities will include ensuring the team has the information and tools needed to perform at their best. You will demonstrate our committed pursuit of applying innovation to meet the requirements of our customer’s needs. You will craft and execute strategies that result in sustainable value creation that delivers measurable results.

This is highly dynamic, interactive position which will require you to interact with numerous stakeholders including program management, business management, engineering, and the customer. Outstanding organizational and leadership skills are essential to succeed in this role.

Essential Functions:  

  • Build relationships with program managers and functional staff to enable success in achieving portfolio goals / objectives
  • SharePoint administration, design, development, maintenance and linkage to OU and Functional sites
  • Liaise with the communications team to share information within the BU
  • Support the MDS leadership team and Operational Efficiency team to establish and track activities in an Agile environment
  • Interface with leadership for collaboration on processes, procedures, metrics

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at a Project Manager / Principal Project Manager level.

Basic Qualifications for Project Manager and Principal Project Manager:

Project Manager – Level 2:

  • Bachelors Degree and 2 years of Project Management experience and/or Masters Degree and 0-2 years of Project Management experience.

Principal Project Manager – Level 3:

  • Bachelors Degree and 5 years of Project Management experience and/or Masters Degree and 3 years of Project Management experience; or a PhD and 1 year of Project Management Experience.
  • Basic Understanding of the Integrated Management Framework (IMF)
  • Proven success in supporting multiple process improvement teams/activities across programs or disciplines
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and self-manage a variety of activities and projects simultaneously
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in document development and knowledge management
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills including presenting to senior leadership
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10 to support business needs
  • Applicants must have a current in-scope DoD issued Secret Security Clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the development and sustainment of Technical Publications/Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) and Training products.
  • Previous Project Management and Logistics experience.
  • Experience with formal Risk Management including tools and Risk Management process
  • PMP Certification
  • Proficiency working with MS Project
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and AGILE
  • Lean / Six-Sigma / Process Improvement training or certification
  • Experience working in the Defense Industry
Salary Range: $68,800 - $103,200
Salary Range 2: $84,600 - $127,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
