Job Description:

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a SAF Demand Manager (Contract) to join our Sustainability & Transformation department based in Herndon, VA.

This position is located in Herndon, VA.

You will be part of a team committed to the decarbonization of the air transport industry. Your Challenges:

[Evaluating, following, analyzing and bringing recommendations to SAF development opportunities with Customers in the US region ]: 40

  • Support the Market insights understanding relating to the decarbonization (including SAF) ambition and progress at our Customers, the development of potential new offerings in relation to SAF (i.e. Book and Claim)
  • Support the identification of the strategic customers and associated campaigns where SAF usage or investment will bring business value
  • Develop and supply the regional roadmap and strategy implementation applying SAF in sales campaigns
  • Update the Sustainability profiles to acquire the insights collected on our Customers
  • Coordinate regional events seeking to educate customers on SAF, collecting Customers’ recommendations and insights on specific SAF related topics, and to promote Airbus’ initiatives on SAF

[Maintaining the relationship with our Customers, including their sustainability representatives in the US region]: 40

  • Support the SAF strategy implementation, ensuring advocacy to customers and key partners, supporting their decarbonization journey
  • Liaise with central teams (SAF and CDR, sustainability marketing, airlines marketing, services teams) to provide feedback from the Region, to deploy the Airbus narrative and influence on SAF usage
  • Ensure the GAM teams are kept up to date and collaborate accordingly to ensure communication in both ways
  • Lead collaboration and partnerships with Customers on specific SAF related projects launched in the frame of the regional SAF strategy
  • Feed the commercial teams with inputs to build a sustainability offering in the frame of a commercial proposal for an aircraft campaign
  • Explore opportunities to aggregate SAF demand and decarbonize our customers operations

[SAF Ambassador Support]: 20

  • Support the Regional SAF ambassador in its duty to feedback the SAF project with consolidated partners intelligence data
  • Prepare management briefs, presentations and other relevant documents
  • As needed be the customer interface on SAF & Sustainability
  • Serve as a company champion of sustainable aviation fuel’s contribution to Airbus broader environmental sustainability strategy
  • Coordinate regional events seeking to educate customers on SAF, collecting Customers’ recommendations and insights on specific SAF related topics, and to promote Airbus’ initiatives on SAF
  • Support the overall SAF knowledge center consolidation by regular exchanges and updates with/to the central team
  • Run project management to support the aviation industry roadmap and aspiration to be net-zero in 2050 across the company (strategy, sales, sustainability, procurement, corporate affairs) and in particular drive local implementation of SAF projects with airline customers

Your Boarding Pass:
  • Required: Master Degree in science, sustainability or environmental management, marketing, business, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Required: 3&43; years of experience in Aerospace and Defense Industry and understanding of the Aerospace value chain
  • Preferred: Past experience within Airbus Group
  • Preferred: 5 years of experience in chemical industry or petrochemical industry or oil refining
  • Preferred: Experience in sustainable aviation fuels production
  • Preferred: Project Management Certification is desirable
  • Required: Detailed knowledge of current state of SAF: Technical (feedstock/pathways, logistics, opportunities/constraints), Commercial (current and future players, vertical value chain, competitor activities), Policy (Current and proposed legislation, RINs, LCFS)
  • Required: Knowledge of environmental life cycle assessment, including familiarity with GREET LCA modeling
  • Required: Basic knowledge of petroleum industry; specifically jet fuel and/or refined products and logistics
  • Required: Knowledge of ESG principles
  • Required: Autonomy and ability to exchange with specialists from various backgrounds
  • Required: Skilled in understanding and explaining technical concepts in a manner tailored to the audience
  • Required: Track record of developing impactful relationships with co-workers and industry peers
  • Required: Must have the ability to assume a high level of responsibility, working independently and in partnership within a large organization
  • Required: Must have ability to balance a wide range of opposing assignments and deliver high-quality results occasionally within very tight timeframes
  • Required: Must have ability to accurately handle highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Required: Must demonstrate attention to detail and have strong written and verbal Required: communication skills
  • Required: Ability to communicate insights from technical reports, publications, and presentations in a structured, digestible, and concise manner
  • Required: Fluency in English both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel up to 30 domestically and internationally is involved with this role

Ability to work in the US without current, or future, need of visa sponsorship/work authorization is required for this opportunity.

This position is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.
