Job Summary:
An exciting opportunity has opened for a Semiconductor Foundry Work Center Lead for the III-V process development engineering team in our Development Fab working on gallium nitride-based devices and III-V focal plane array fabrication within the Advanced Microelectronics Solutions (AMS) Department. This role requires a broad understanding of microelectronics wafer fabrication and processing techniques such as deposition, etch, lithography, backside, materials characterization, and metrology with expertise in one or more of these areas.
The chosen candidate is expected to have excellent leadership skills to guide the process development team and to serve as the main interface of the development fab with technical leads, Integrated Product Team leads, and functional management. The ideal candidate is expected to be an innovative and creative thinker across a variety of III-V compound semiconductor technologies and wafer fabrication processing including microelectronics processing techniques of deposition, etch, lithography, backside, materials characterization, and metrology.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Lead a small team of development engineers by providing leadership and technical guidance in the production of novel semiconductor materials and devices.
- Support the research and development efforts of the department by managing priorities and wafer movement through the Development Fab.
- Coordinate with and report to technical leads and project managers on the status of experiments within the Development Fab.
- Propose and manage overhead projects for the growth and sustainment of the Development Fab.
- Interface with the operations management to advocate and coordinate the Development Fab access on production wafer fabrication toolsets.
- Manage the budget and scheduling of the equipment maintenance and repair of the Development Fab toolset while developing the road map for the future capital equipment.
- Oversee and lead continuous improvement efforts for the Development Fab including the audit readiness, safety, chemical inventory and other facilities infrastructure.
- Frequently work on the foundry floor and interact with various process engineering, equipment engineering, digital technologies, quality, facilities, and operation teams.
- This 1st shift role will be 100 on-site and based in Andover, MA.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 8 years’ of prior work experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ of prior work experience.
- Experience in semiconductor processing techniques including lithography, dry etching, wet chemistry, metals evaporation, sputtering and backside processing.
- Experience demonstrating skills including team leadership, communication and project management.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance post-start is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

- Ability to lead and coordinate technical projects with diverse and cross-functional teams.
- Experience with semiconductor process integration and development of III-V compound semiconductors.
- Broad knowledge related to semiconductor processing, equipment, and data analysis.
- Experience with characterizing, understanding, and developing next generation of semiconductor technologies and process modules.
- Ability to document and maintain production process flows.
- Experience with developing project plans and providing justification for capital and overhead funding.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
