Job Description SummaryThe Senior Counsel, Treasury provides ongoing legal advice and support to business leaders across the Legal Contracts and Compliance organization of GE Aerospace. The Contract and Compliance team, of which you would be a part, is a dynamic experienced group of commercial and legal professionals who serve as GE Aerospace’s internal subject matter authorities on all legal matters. Roles and Responsibilities
Provide ongoing legal advice and support to senior leaders principally related to internal and external funding transactions for the GE Aerospace Treasury team, which may include:
Structuring, interpreting and negotiating internal and external funding transactions, including debt issuances (commercial paper, credit facilities and derivatives) in the United States, Europe and other key jurisdictions globally
Providing legal advice to colleagues on legal and business issues associated with all aspects of Treasury work, including exposure and liquidity management, trade finance and cash infrastructure and associated entity and corporate governance
Supporting supply chain finance and equipment leasing and financing work
Evaluating and advising business colleagues on the legal and commercial risk being undertaken in a particular action, transaction or agreement
Supporting audits relating to emerging risks as well as corrective actions, and implement strategies that will protect the business and manage business risk
Using Lean thinking necessary to simplify processes and reduce cycle time, including development of standard practices and web-based tools
Anticipating and driving solutions for unassigned legal and business issues and growth initiatives
Managing referral of matters to in-house legal specialists and occasionally outside counsel
Training Company employees regarding contract best practices and legal principles effecting their workscope
Collaborating with and facilitating cross-team decision-making among the legal team, business teams and other internal teams
Qualifications/Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Member in good standing with the State Bar
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an attorney at a law firm or in house.
- Availability to occasionally travel internationally where necessary for work
- Fluency in English (additional languages appreciated)

- Established analytical ability and excellent communication and advocacy skills, with an aptitude for practical negotiation, clear thinking and succinct communication to all levels of an organization
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including ability to influence others to deliver on commitments and work with cross-functional teams
- Ability to develop process-driven solutions for recurring issues
- Ability to handle multiple inquiries and assignments in a time pressured environment, and composure to satisfy multiple, and sometimes competing objectives
- Creativity, vision, and sound judgment in developing and implementing legal solutions to problems
- Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial and financial agreements
- Law firm or in house experience in corporate finance
