Job overview and responsibilitiesUnited is seeking a primary developer for our passenger simulation application in Chicago, IL. Working closely with our business teams, this role will brainstorm ideas to test new Revenue Management strategies using the passenger simulator. We are interested in someone who knows or is willing to learn concepts of Airline Revenue Management, including passenger forecasting, modeling, and optimization. A key competency is using this knowledge to update the codebase of the passenger simulation application.
- Collaborate closely with the various teams and business partners to build and run Revenue Management simulations.
- Good conceptual understanding of basic mathematical optimization
- Strong quantitative reasoning abilities
- Strong capability to translate mathematical concepts into code
- C++ required and Python recommended
- Ability to read and understand code written by others
- Knowledgeable about new technologies (Ex: Gen-Ai, Machine Leaning, Natural Language Processing)
- Understanding of the value of creating first pass solutions
- Prioritizes writing clean, readable code
- Ability to prioritize work independently
- Eager to ask questions, admit mistakes, and learn new things
- Willing to challenge existing methods and ideas with better solutions

QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in software application design, development, installation, and modification.
- Strong knowledge and experience of .NET Core, C
- Hands on experience in building microservice in AWS is must
- Proficient in the design of RESTful APIs, you understand how CRUD maps to APIs and can stand by critical principles such as HTTP verbs and code.
- Sound understanding of Message queues/broker like Solace, Kafka, AMQ, SQS and Event driven architecture: Different Patterns with pub/sub, topic, queues, etc.
- Proficient with NoSQL Database like Mongo Db, Elasticache and understand the core concepts of NoSQL DB
- Strong understanding of LINQ syntax and ORMs (EF Core preferable)
- Experienced and hands on understanding of System Design Principals
- Nice to have - AWS Neptune / any similar Graph Database experience
- Nice to have experience with AWS – AI based recommendation models
- Nice to have exposure to OpenTelemetry and / or experience with any telemetry libraries.
- Strong understanding of source code control tools (Gitlab) and branching model
- Must have legal authorization to work in the United States for any employer without requiring sponsorship
