Job overview and responsibilities

United is seeking a lead developer with a strong database and data analytics background in Chicago, IL for our Pricing ang Revenue Management systems building automated planning and reporting tools for the next generation revenue management system.

This position will work closely across our development and enterprise teams. We are interested in someone who knows or is willing to learn concepts of Airline Revenue Management, including pricing and passenger forecasting. A key competency is using this knowledge to:

  • Collaborate closely with the various technical and business partners to support pricing and revenue management data needs
  • Collaborate & lead tech teams consisting of employees & vendor company contractors in planning and execution, serving as a technology leader
  • Knowledgeable about new technologies (Ex: Gen-Ai, Machine Leaning, Natural Language Processing)
  • Ability to prioritize work independently
  • Eager to ask questions, admit mistakes, and learn new things
  • Willing to challenge existing methods and ideas with better solutions

QualificationsQualifications Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer/data engineering, management information systems or something similar
  • 5+ years of SQL programming experience across database platforms including Oracle, MS SQL, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in design, development, documenting, testing, and debugging of new and existing software systems and/or applications for market sale or large-scale proprietary software for internal use in an agile environment.
  • Proficient with AWS Redshift, RDS, and other AWS apps including Glue, EC2, S3 and Dynamo DB
  • Hands-on development and proficient excellence in backend API development using Python
  • Skilled in Microsoft’s SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Strong understanding of source code control tools (Gitlab) and branching model
  • · Knowledge of data analytic tools such as Power BI and Spotfire
  • Experienced and hands on understanding of System Design Principals
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States for any employer without requiring sponsorship.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data landscape with an airline focus
  • Experience with NoSQL Database like Mongo Db, Elasticache and understand the core concepts of NoSQL DB
  • Strong understanding of Spark framework
