Boeing’s Finance Shared Services (FSS) Estimating Center of Expertise (COE) organization is seeking a Senior Estimator to support the Government Estimating and Pricing for Space Mission Systems team located El Segundo, CA.
This position will support U.S. Government type contracts and proposal activities supporting Government Satellites Systems.
The candidate will be responsible for leading a variety of estimating tasks, including labor estimates, priced bill of materials, and cost volume preparation, proposal development, fact-finding, and negotiation. The candidate will be a part of a unique cross-functional team working with Contracts, Estimating, Supplier Management, Business Development, and Program Management to evaluate customer requests for proposals and statements of work, and maintain communications with internal and external partners to ensure cost proposals are accurate, complete and of the highest quality.
Position Responsibilities:
- Leads development of complex estimates and prices from complex technical requirements through the design, build and support stages of the program
- Leads development and application of pricing strategies using innovative computational techniques
- Leads business proposals, evaluates and makes recommendations based on complex requests for proposal and substantiates estimates and pricing
- Builds and develops complex pricing models
- Leads and performs complex analyses and provides recommendations in support of pricing and estimating (risk, financial, driven, etc.)
- Resolves database requirements and identifies new data sources
- Leads the development/application/maintenance of outstanding and non-unique rates and factors for estimating
- Leads compliance activities, policy and procedure development, deployment of new systems/tools, training development/delivery and internal audits
- Develops estimates from historical data, parametric analysis, technical requirements and diverse sources of data
- Prepares complex Priced Bill of Material estimate and Prime Termination Proposals
- Performs risk and opportunity analysis
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelors Degree (or higher) in at least one of the following fields: Business, Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics
- 5+ years of experience performing cost estimating/pricing function
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Project
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience working in multifaceted and diverse teams across multiple functions
- Experience leading projects with little direct supervision and drive project to completion
- Experience with critical thinking, problem solving, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working under tight deadlines with competing priorities
- Understanding of proposal process and experience using data analysis to drive decision making
- Knowledge of United States Government (USG) Cost Accounting Standards and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+8 years related work experience, 14 years related work experience, etc.).
