Job Description:

As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.

We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.

The role: Senior Resource Manager

Are you an experienced Operations Planning professional with a passion for Resource Management?

You will lead the teams responsible for planning and delivering resources, creating manpower forecasts, and ensuring operational feasibility of resource plans. Additionally, you will act as a business partner for accountable line areas, lead teams, track against financial plans, and collaborate with Trade Unions to optimise resource allocation. You will also contribute to the design and implementation of transformation initiatives and work with product development on enhancing team tools.

This pivotal role plays a key part in the success of the business, reporting directly to the Head of Operations Planning. • Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to identify assumptions, identify efficiency-saving opportunities, and ensure operability numbers are met on the resource plans.
  • Highlight risks and opportunities in both the long and short-term resource outlook, and mitigate risks where possible.
  • Communicate the operational plan, risks, and mitigations to senior collaborators to advise upstream planning decisions.
  • Own the delivery of resource plans for your areas, balancing network schedule, financial targets, operational requirements, training needs, and other business priorities which directly influence operational performance.
  • Manage and lead a variety of transformation initiatives and change projects across the organisation.
  • Support the team with modelling and analysis, including root-cause analysis and standard processes.
  • Work closely with product development teams to gather requirements, develop processes, and test new tools.
  • Collaborate with finance, recruitment, learning & development, product development, industrial relations, line area leadership, network, and the wider operations team.

You must possess strong planning, numeracy, and analytical skills and have excellent communication skills to understand and convey problems concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences. Additionally, the role requires outstanding problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the ability to handle ambiguity and successfully engage with collaborators at various levels.

Your experience:
