What you can expect as a Shift Manager at West Star:
The Shift Manager will be responsible for the administration and coordination of all maintenance operations for the assigned shift. This position will oversee maintenance operations, resolve internal and external disputes, coordinate activities among various departments to complete work assignments, and perform special assignments as required.
You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:
- Responsible for all aircraft maintenance activities and safety for assigned shift
- Attends shift turnover meetings
- Coordinates project details with Quality Personnel, Team Leads, Technicians, Vendors and Customer
- Reviews squawks generated and determines corrective actions with Customer and available resources.
- Submits customer approvals and facilitates parts procurement in collaboration with the Project Coordinator Management
- Ensures projects stay on track to meet Customer SLA performance levels.
- Monitors hours applied to the work scope and shift labor utilization
- Serves as point-of-contact for assigned shift.
- Manages the maintenance updates, internally and to the customer, for assigned shift
- Makes decisions based on safety, qualifications, company and customer procedures for all technicians assigned
- Ensures all employees are being managed fairly and consistently
- Conducts employee performance reviews
- Reviews and assists with employee’s time sheets
- Approves and submits employee paid time off
- Maintains a look-forward approach for setting up manpower, equipment and parts for the next shift
- Monitors company e-mail traffic to help make informed decisions
- Leads a culture of continuous improvement in procedures, processes, and internal and external customer satisfaction to improve cost, schedule, and quality of processes
- Mentors technicians and evaluates their training needs. Ensures they complete their assigned training courses.
- Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
- Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
What you’ll need to bring with you:
Your Education
A High school diploma or equivalent is required.
A&P license is required.
A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
Aircraft specific factory training is preferred.
Your Experience
5+ year’s prior experience working in corporate aircraft maintenance is recommended.
Experience with Microsoft Office 365 products required.
Actual work experience must include troubleshooting, use of specialized tools, ground support equipment, and the use of aircraft maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, technical reports and forms.
Experience supervising two or more-line maintenance technicians.
