Job Description SummaryThe CMC Product and Development Lab sub-section manager will be responsible for leading the CMC Product Development Lab operations, including specialist and technician personnel. This role demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for safety, quality and delivery of products from the CMC development lab
- Partner with Design, EMS and Supply Chain to facilitate prototype process development for CMC Components, including NPI projects, Edisonworks commercialization projects, and other process development associated with existing CMC products for LEAP, GE9X, and beyond
- Define standard work and enable project plans to apply next generation material systems and processes, such as high temperature CMC, to components to demonstrate feasibility
- Anticipate, mitigate and correct processing challenges
- Manage a small to medium team of professionals (from OTHSAL to Senior Professional). Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
- Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology and/or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
- Provide leadership and technical direction for organizational personnel and assigned program tasks
- Provide support council and recommendations to section management
- Establish work group goals within framework of section technical and financial objectives
- Maintain broad awareness of efforts within group to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs
- Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organizations and within work group
- Communicate with management on technical, organizational, resource and personnel issues
- Define roles and responsibilities for assigned personnel
- Conduct performance appraisals and participate in salary planning
- Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counseling
- Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within work group
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
- At least 5 additional years of experience in a program or project leadership role within an engineering environment
