Job Description SummaryThe Sub-Section Manager – EW Stress Analysis will deliver analytical solutions to design components/system for GE Aerospace Edison Works (EW) military jet engines. In this role you will direct the team to conduct stress analyses and tests to define and optimize component/system design using state of the art analysis tools and methodologies. You will contribute to new product introduction, improving existing products, and resolving manufacturing issues working closely with mechanical design team. Will have a team of direct reports, with moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of technical and operational judgment. Roles and Responsibilities
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work requires a good understanding of mechanical design principles and analysis.
- Manages a small to medium team of senior professionals as well as others. Develops specialized knowledge in the stress analysis discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Engineering/Technology & Mechanical Component.
- Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- US Citizen with Security Clearance/Ability to Obtain a Clearance
Desired Characteristics
- Masters degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Demonstrated experience with design, test, and analysis relating to gas turbine design.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Established project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
