Job Description:
STS Technical Services is hiring a Supplier Quality Manager in Ridgeland, South Carolina. The Supplier Quality Manager will be responsible for developing and managing the supply base to ensure the highest standards of quality and compliance. This role requires up to 80 travel within the U.S., with occasional international trips. We are looking for a self-motivated problem solver with a passion for supply chain excellence and quality control. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain all supplier quality activities.
  • Perform supplier quality assessments to ensure compliance with QMS standards, particularly ISO9001:2015.
  • Manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and lead problem-solving efforts to resolve supplier issues.
  • Collaborate with Plant Operations to address supplier non-conformance issues.
  • Create and maintain an issue log database for tracking and resolution.
  • Support supplier deviations, change requests, and APQP activities to ensure on-time program launches.
  • Manage Supplier Non-Conformance cost recovery and develop supplier scorecards.
  • Lead Lean manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, Standard Work, and Continuous Improvement activities.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in public speaking.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, welding, machining, and assembly techniques.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001:2015, AWS D1.1, and AIAG PPAP standards.
  • Ability to travel up to 80, with some international travel as needed.
  • ASQ certifications (CQA or CSQP) are preferred.
  • Experience with Lean principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in supplier quality management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems.
  • Experience with heavy equipment manufacturing is highly desirable.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily an office-based position, with occasional work in warehouse or production settings.
  • PPE is required when working on the production floor, including safety shoes, glasses, and a vest.
  • Travel to supplier or manufacturing sites may be required.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds.
