Role Specific Details
This Supply Chain Manager, will support Aircraft Material for the Maintenance & Engineering Material Management team.
Role Summary
The SCM, Manager, is a subject matter expert in all phases of strategic sourcing projects and supplier performance activities for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. As an individual contributor this role, defines the long-term strategy for supply chain management and exercises considerable latitude and initiative to make decisions in project assessment, strategy development, supplier evaluation, and negotiation of terms to meet quality, cost, and performance targets. The position is responsible for developing and overseeing relationships with internal customers and vendors to ensure company and divisional objectives are met. This Manager is a key stakeholder and decision-maker for all sourcing projects and supplier performance management supporting Maintenance & Engineering (M&E), Flight Operations or Inflight for the Alaska and Horizon fleets.
Key Duties
As the subject matter expert in strategic sourcing projects, this role leads the sourcing process for AAG’s Sourcing projects, including project assessment, strategy development, supplier evaluation and selection, and negotiation of terms to meet quality, cost, and performance targets.
Performs project manager duties for sourcing projects to include development of standard project documents (timeline, budget, scope), as needed for complex projects with a 12-month and beyond horizon to ensure effective Supply Chain involvement in sourcing and vendor management, including market assessment, vendor selection and RFP process, negotiations, pricing, contracting, warranties, and supplier oversight.
Supports Supply Chain Director and business owners to develop long-range sourcing strategies to support key commodities.
Leverages expert knowledge in negotiations and contracting and leads negotiations with little or no guidance from senior management. Develops a unique end-state to provide Alaska with a vendor-specific competitive advantage that achieves adherence to performance objectives and reduced unit costs or economies of scale while cultivating long-term harmonious vendor relationships. Focus is on total cost of ownership (operating, training, maintenance, warehousing, environmental, quality, transportation costs, etc.).
Responsible for contract management to ensure all relevant contracts are in the contract system, properly organized and accessible, with a contract owner assigned to each. Ensures division is aware of upcoming contract expirations and managing to complete market exercise to meet the needs of the business.
Develops supplier performance management language, documents and business review materials in collaboration with subject matter experts and supplier partners; may lead supplier performance reviews.
Develops and maintains relationships with Alaska and Horizon commercial and operational division partners; manages internal customer engagement for the sourcing process and related projects.
Partners with procurement to support post-sourcing project purchase orders and supplier relationship development.
Influences across Alaska and Horizon and several levels up to build cross-divisional consensus that balances operational objectives with financial responsibility.
Collaborates with financial, planning & analysis team to support divisional budgets, variance reviews, and financial analysis required for capital and expense project needs.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
7 years of experience in supply chain, project or program management, or related area.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related area, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Analytical and problem-solving skills to include financial analysis and spend management planning.
Ability to build influence across departments around company strategies.
Proven track record of developing and sustaining strong customer and supplier relationships.
Negotiation and contract management experience.
Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings and developing and delivering presentations.
Demonstrated experience with technology (MOTS software and hardware) strategic sourcing processes, including requests for information, quotes, proposals (RFI/RFQ/RFP) writing, scoring, and analysis.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or other supply chain professional certification is preferred.
Demonstrated change management skills and the ability to challenge the status quo.
Experience negotiating high-value contracts, specifically maintenance service and/or support agreements.
Experience working with aircraft maintenance service providers.
Experience with financial analysis of complex vendor proposals.

Salary Range
$117,500 - $176,300 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
