The role:

The Systems & Standards Support Manager will deliver on the Operations Planning Governance and Change Department at British Airways, a critical department responsible for the strategy, development, deployment, and maintenance of our Resource Planning and Delivery Systems across Flight Crew, Cabin Crew, and Airports. This team ensures that our IT systems are secure, reliable, and compliant, playing a pivotal role in the seamless operation of the airline. By supporting and improving these systems, the team directly impacts the efficiency of our operations, and overall service quality.

What you’ll do:

  • Run day-to-day operations of your portfolio within the Systems and Standards team, including providing guidance and direction to team members and ensuring timely resolution of issues
  • Ensure compliance with established standards and procedures for system maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Provide support to end-users for system issues and incidents, including performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Collaborate with group IT teams and partners to find opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements
  • Assist with the planning and execution of system upgrades and migrations, including coordinating testing and deployment activities
  • Supply ideas to the development and maintenance of system documentation and training materials
  • Ensure that all systems and processes are secure and compliant with relevant regulations and industry standards
  • Track and report on key performance metrics related to system availability, performance, and user satisfaction
  • Participate, lead and co-ordinate system related projects on behalf of Ops Planning
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies make recommendations for their adoption as appropriate
  • Test functionality developed by our suppliers and IT Delivery Partners before deployment into live.

Your experience:

The ideal candidate for the role of System and Standards Support Manager should possess a combination of deep technical, and social skills, along with relevant qualifications and experience in IT management. They should have a consistent track record in delivering IT projects on time and within budget while managing compliance with regulations and industry standards. They should have excellent communication skills and be able to collaborate effectively with internal, external and c-suite stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure to meet targets are also crucial. The candidate should be proficient in project management, analytical skills, and an understanding/experience with ITIL framework and KITC. A passion for Resource Planning and operational delivery would be a bonus!
