Job Summary
Technical Media Manager supervises the Technical Media group and develops and documents the software processes and practices used in the distribution of airplane operational and maintenance documents in a variety of digital and hard copy formats. Technical Media Manager is responsible for managing a complex, large-scale, software implementation program, working closely with IT and its implementation partners.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Work closely with Information Technology, stakeholders, and implementation partners, both internal and external, to plan, execute, and monitor/control the implementation of a Content Management System (CMS).
- Define and document CMS processes.
- Oversee the rollout of ArborText and CMS into the Technical Publications development and distribution processes.
- Define, plan, and execute a company-wide CMS training plan.
- Writes handbooks, procedures, customized software user manuals for software tools currently in use in the department (Windchill, Arbortext, Creo Illustrate, etc.) , reference information related to Technical Media onboarding, internal functions, such as content management/knowledge management that would inform any new hire to help facilitate orientation and assimilation of skills and practices in the department
- Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of all output, electronic content and information architecture
- Provide weekly/monthly reports, budgetary input, yearly goals in support of overall company objectives – communicate goals to employees
- Interface with Information Technology, Field Service, Configuration Management and other groups at Cirrus to augment coordination of information and customer service
- Work closely with IT, Marketing, and external website hosts to redefine the deployment of Technical Publications on the cirrusaircraft.com and authorized service center websites.
- Develop and maintain documentation of the processes and quality controls built into the new Technical Publications systems, suitable for submission to the FAA and other regulatory agencies, as requested.
- Continually look for ways to improve documentation and service
- Supervise the Technical Publications team members, including career progression and coaching, resource allocation, staffing, and performance reviews.
Qualifications

- Associates or Bachelors degree in English, Technical Writing, Technical Communication, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field required.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills required.
- Content Management/Knowledge Management strongly Preferred
- 5-10 years experience in Technical Communication preferred.
- 5 years of experience in XML authoring in Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) preferred
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and technical reports preferred.
- Experience with Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat, PTC Creo View, DITA, and PTC Windchill, or equivalent Product Data Management system, preferred.
- Experience with PTC ArborText and a Content Management System (CMS) strongly preferred.
- Private pilots license, Airframe and Power Plant certificate, or background in aircraft maintenance preferred.
