As the Travel and Expense Manager for Nightwing, you will oversee and manage the companys travel and expense operations, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, contract requirements, and internal policies. You will lead a team, optimize travel costs, provide strategic insights, and ensure accurate and timely reimbursement processes.
Responsibilities include continuously monitoring and review of transactional data for allowability and supporting external government audits. This role necessitates exceptional attention to detail and a high regard for supporting our employees. This role reports to the Director of Accounting Service Center and allows for in-office, hybrid, or remote location designation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and enforce travel policies and procedures in compliance with federal regulations such as the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR) and the Defense Travel Regulation (DTR).
Conduct regular audits of travel expenses to ensure adherence to company policies and federal regulations. Address and resolve any compliance issues or discrepancies in travel expenses and procedures.
Foster a positive and collaborative team environment to achieve department goals. Provide training, support, and guidance to team members on travel policies, expense reporting, and compliance requirements.
Provide training and support to employees on using the travel management system and complying with travel policies.
Ensure timely reimbursement of travel expenses to employees. Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to travel expenses.
Analyze travel data to identify trends, cost saving opportunities, and areas for process improvement.
Prepare detailed reports on travel expenses, compliance, and budget performance for senior management.
Required Skills:
Experience in travel and expense management, preferably within a government contracting environment.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, writing and interpersonal skills are vital to this role, as is the ability to interact with external and internal stakeholders to provide meaningful, practical and effective business relationships.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficient knowledge of US GAAP.

Desired Skills:
Knowledge of cost accounting standards (CAS) and federal acquisition regulations (FAR).
Experience with Emburse or a similar platform
Familiarity with international travel policies and regulations.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel to include formula use of: Vlook-Up, Index and match, and Nested If-Statements.
Educational Requirements:
Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience

The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
