- Time and 1/2 on OT plus split
Plan and fabricate parts and shop aids in accordance with engineering or customer specifications to be used in flight test aircraft.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT
- Frequent periods requiring use of conventional hand and bench/fixed tools, standing, and grasping
- Occasional periods requiring portable power tools, lifting/lowering, carrying, crouching, and listening
- Occasional periods of lifting up to 49lbs and 50lbs or more with assistance
- Frequent exposure to general shop conditions and machine noise
- Job location may be in a non-air-conditioned hangar or work area
Minimum Position Requirements
- CNC machining experience working with conventional mills and lathes, must have CNC experience operating 3 and 5 axis mills and preferred experience in machining prototype parts and tooling
- Ability to read and interpret engineering documents
- Working knowledge of properties of mild steel, stainless steel, Titanium and aluminum applicable to part fabrication
- Ability to use and interpret a variety of precision measurement instruments
- Working knowledge of shop and trigonometry mathematics
- Ability to perform machine set-ups
- Working knowledge of CAD/CATIA with a clear understanding of NC codes.
TASKS-Performed with minimal supervision
- Adhere to General Work Requirements
- Plan machining procedures and set-up machining equipment
- Fabricate first article and static, ground, and fatigue test parts in accordance with engineering specifications and BFTC methods planning documents to be used on flight test aircraft
- Plan machining procedures and design and fabricate machine shop aids as required
- Verify parts and tooling comply with design and complete methods documentation as required
- Develop set-up programs for computerized machining equipment
- Grind cutting tools to specified tolerances in support of machine shop operations
- Mentor and guide new employees
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of properties of mild steel, stainless steel, titanium and aluminum applicable to part fabrication
- Thorough knowledge of proper methods in processing materials and machining parts and shop aids to prevent costly losses of material and machine delays in certification efforts
- Ability to produce detail parts utilizing conventional 3 axis machining including mills and lathes, must have CNC experience to include 3 axis and 5 axis milling and some CNC lathe
- Basic knowledge of CAD/CATIA with a clear understanding of NC codes.
- Ability to operate tool grinding equipment
