Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Middletown, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a reliable and hard-working AP/AR Clerk. As a key member of our Finance team, the successful individual will compile and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records, and miscellaneous tasks.
Essential Responsibilities
- Process invoices for payment by matching invoices to receivers and verifying pricing to purchase orders through MRP system (MAX). Process invoices without purchase orders, and check requests. Coordinate with Receiving and/or Purchasing as required.
- Prepares debit memos, as necessary.
- Record and confirm general ledger coding for incoming invoices and/or checks is correct in Great Plains Accounting System.
- Prepares and sends accounts payable checks to vendors.
- Manage accounts payable files to include filing and reviewing vendor statements.
- Prepares weekly and monthly reports on Accounts Payable Balances; assist in monthly closing.
- Provides customer service to vendors by returning all calls and correspondence.
- Records and controls petty cash.
- Prepares customer invoice(s) based on packing list(s). Coordinate with Shipping and/or Contracts as necessary.
- Reconcile lock box deposits and prepare bank deposit(s), as necessary.
- Records sales and cash receipts in Great Plains Accounting System.
- Researches and processes charge backs and returns
- Prepares weekly and monthly reports on Sales and Accounts Receivable Balances.
- Follows up on all customer past due invoices. Coordinates with Contracts as necessary.
- Manage accounts receivable files which include sales invoices and payment advice.
- Performs special projects as required.
Position Requirements
- Associates degree or 3-5 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Great Plains Accounting System (is a plus but not required), and MRP System experience (plus).
- Ability to identify, research, and resolve potential problems. Ability to apply accounting workflow to the position. Understand and utilize Generally Accepting Accounting Principles in regard to Accounts Payable.
