Summary

The AVCATT Battle Master Controller (BMC) is capable of inputting, monitoring and controlling all parameters of the training exercise, including Semi-Automated Forces (SAF) and Role Player (RP) functions utilizing the BMC control workstation. The BMC possess the ability to alter loaded Initial Conditions (IC) during the exercise that will match increasing aircrew expertise. The BMC provides guidance for the unitu2019s pre-mission familiarization training, enters and completes the Aviation Mission Planning System (AMPS) data, performs Role Player (RP) functions as required, and assists the SAF, Operator Controller (OC) and RPs during exercise execution by creating, controlling and modifying force structure, damage levels, weapon system parameters, composition, route of travel, Rules of Engagement (ROE), speed, actions, and levels of lethality for both friendly and opposing forces. The BMC is the AVCATT Manager and as such, is responsible for all administrative and supervisory functions related to device operations. BMC reports to the Site Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

u2022 Works with senior level personnel and business units/technical areas to conduct assessments to ensure training needs are met.
u2022 Operates BMC control station and related exercise control systems IAW current and applicable military doctrine.
u2022 Develops and manages device training calendar by working closely with unit planners to assist and/or input training requests into the MIS.
u2022 Serves as company representative for all direct coordination with TOR and ensures site personnel comply with program, company and government policies and procedures.
u2022 Generates and controls Battle Master and After-Action Review consoles, inputs semi-automated exercise tactical entities to meet military instructors, observer controllers, and unit commanders training intent.

u2022 Programs BMC controller radios frequencies, weapons configurations, navigation waypoints, target coordinates, and weather environmental parameters. Loads and verifies correct missions Initial Conditions (IC) defaults prior to initialization of flight modes.
u2022 Plans and establishes work and training schedules. Ensures training resources are available for training and conducts or assists in briefings.
u2022 Coordinates and assists in training exercise development with supported units.
u2022 Advises and provides guidance to exercise participants manning the role player stations.
u2022 Develops and manages electronic files containing overlays, scenarios, and user provided portable AMPS flight planning software files used during current and future training iterations.
u2022 Catalogs, maintains, and transfers mission files between external training devices and AVCATT.
u2022 Understands and applies realistic semi-automated forces not limited to; infantry fighting vehicles, armor, infantry troops, artillery, rotary and fixed wing, combat service support elements, air defense systems during day and night military training exercises.
u2022 Verifies navigational pointsu2019 using both Military Grid Reference (MGR) System and Long/Lat coordinates.
u2022 Must be able to communicate using FM, UHF, VHF and HF tactical radios in plain and secure modes.
u2022 Supports aviation training exercises in preparation for actual real-life deployments.
u2022 Must be able to communicate with US Army flight crews and act as a crew chief if necessary to compliment air assault, sling loads and Medevac operations.
u2022 Monitors flight modules and generates calls for maintenance to the AVCATT Technician.
u2022 Operates Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) with mission parameters established for each training iteration.
u2022 Operates playback of tactical map display, sensor video, META-VR stealth, and automated recordings at the discretion of the instructors and evaluators.
u2022 Must be able to perform orderly initialization and shutdown of the AVCATT ONESAF Host computer and IC suites.
u2022 Conducts simulator test flights in support of maintenance checks and engineering support efforts.
u2022 Work as technical crew to assist in the teardown, set-up and testing in association with training moves.
u2022 Helps aviators fit Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) for mission training.
u2022 Gathers, reviews, and analyzes after-action review and course evaluations to determine effectiveness of training sessions.
u2022 Assists AVCATT technician reconfigure man-modules to different aircraft configuration is support of training missions.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Five or more years of Military Aviation Simulation Experience.
  • Prior AVCATT experience as BMC highly desired.
  • Advanced degree or equivalent combination of education and experience to develop and maintain training relationships to maximize training device usage.
  • Prior military experience and knowledge of transportation and convoy operations, up to and including major command level operations and training requirements.
  • Interpersonal skills for interacting with all levels of civilian and military personnel.
  • Comprehension skills for understanding products and applying knowledge for presentations.
  • Personal computer and business solutions software skills
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel

Preferred Skills

  • Prefer former Company Grade Officer, Warrant Officer, or Senior Non-Commissioned Officer.
  • Prefer five (5) years maintenance experience of all major areas, systems, and subsystems of those trainers and systems being supported.
  • Experience with Army aviation training systems is a plus.
