Job Description:
As a Cryogenic power electric engineer, you will be part of a multinational team in charge of developing an advanced superconducting and cryogenic powertrain to enable high power electric propulsion systems for aircraft application.
It will be composed of a cryogenic DC/DC converter, a superconducting DC network with protections, a cryogenic motor drive, a superconducting electric motor and a cryogenic cooling system developed with partners from worldwide industry and academia, start-ups in a dynamic and emulating environment.
This position is based in Munich (Ottobrunn) and it comes with a limited contract till December 2026, the deadline of the demonstrator.
Responsibilities:
As a Cryogenic power electronic R&T engineer, you will be part of the team in charge of designing, prototyping and testing power electronic converters:
Develop and characterize cryogenic/superconducting components (power module, drivers, sensors, inductance, capacitors, bus bars…)
Simulate and design power electronic core,
Design electronic hardware and EMC filters
Design control/command software
Prototype motor drive and integrate it in a cryogenic loop
Prototype DC/DC converter and integrate it in a cryogenic loop
Integrate and test it in the cryo/superconducting powertrain
Evaluate performances and potential of a cryo-inverter for propulsive application
Drive industrial and academic partners.

What you bring
MSc or PhD in electrical engineering or similar
Background in electrical engineering
At least 5-10 years experiences in multidisciplinary technical activities (electrical, mechanical, thermal) from technology, design to prototyping and laboratory testing for aeronautic applications)
Expertise of components and technologies of powertrains
Experience in cryogenic power electronic state of the art and technologies usable for aeronautic applications
Demonstrated track record of end-to-end project execution
Well-built professional network within their domain of expertise, including academics, industrial players, consultants, entrepreneurs
Knowledge in superconductivity state of the art and technologies usable for aeronautic applications would be appreciated
Negotiation level in English is required with excellent overall communications skills
Passionate about exploring new areas, working on equations and quickly implementing innovative ideas and concepts
Critical thinker that takes on big challenges to create innovative solutions
Impatience with a burning desire to execute rapidly, without compromising neither safety nor ethics nor compliance
