What Youll Get to Do
Reporting to the GSE Manager, the Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Apprentice repairs, troubleshoots, adjusts, overhauls, performs services including inspections, oil changes and assists in the maintenance of all light duty, heavy-duty and automotive equipment in all locations as needed under the supervision of assigned Journeyman.
- Complete maintenance and or services on company vehicles and ground equipment. This may include baggage carts, boarding ramps, Honda generators, GPU’s, Bobcats, small Cat equipment, forklifts & Kubota’s
- Diagnose and repair all company equipment safely and according to specifications
- Troubleshoot to diagnose problems
- Inspect equipment to ensure safe operation
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper function & performance
- Maintain proper maintenance reports/documentation inside our maintenance program MTCpro
- Performs routine preventive maintenance on company equipment
- Repair, adjust, and or replace defective parts as needed
- Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work as required
- Request parts and maintain inventory
- Travel required to various work sites within Manitoba and Nunavut
- Other duties as assigned
Hours of Work
- Shift work is required and may include mornings/afternoons, evenings, and weekends
Skills & Experience We Value
- Grade 12 or equivalent (GED)
- Current Heavy-Duty and/or Automotive Apprentice
- 1-5 years of experience
- Valid class 5 driving license
- Travel required – approximately 50
- Computer skills (MS Office, Teams)
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Previous experience in heavy duty / automotive considered an asset
- Must be able to obtain, retain and maintain an Enhanced Security Clearance pass
- Inuktitut considered an asset
- Preference given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
