Position Summary
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Perform all duties necessary to the efficient operation of all equipment in the department. Operate and maintain plant equipment in accordance with standard work and building procedures. Support operations and engineering in the design, build, implementation, and maintenance of custom-built equipment and processes under the direction of the Engineering department. Develop innovative and creative approaches for improvement in safety, quality, and productivity in processes and equipment. Occasional travel may be necessary.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Implement or test design solutions.
2. Perform runs on equipment in support of the Engineering team.
3. Repair or replace broken components and test machines for performance.
4. Read/interpret schematics and layout drawings of equipment.
5. Communicate automation problems with Engineering team and other appropriate functions.
6. Recommend improvements to assembly, maintenance, safety, test method of product through automated process.
7. Must be capable of following and meeting standard work requirements.
8. Must be able to use computer programs to assist in recording data, making labels, printing tooling layouts, obtaining prints and specifications, etc.
9. Be able to continue to pursue future designs that will help Parker HPD move forward in leading edge technology.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Specify and order any materials required to create any approved project and document the final designs. This documentation must include items such as: blueprints, bill of materials, preventative maintenance standard work, etc. as required for continued support of the equipment
2. Perform all root cause analysis, institute CANDO check actions for equipment exhibiting recurrent failures, excessive cost, or quality issues
3. Develop safety practices that improve working conditions on equipment as needed and beyond OEM standards to ensure a safe Parker work environment in HPD plants.
4. Must schedule or arrange equipment repairs, new equipment design and implementation and ensure proper requisition, charges, and accounting of repair parts to current departments.
5. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.
6. Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High-Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
7. Promote positive teamwork.
8. Able to foster professionalism with all associates along with internal and external customers
9. Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education required: | 1. High School diploma or GED 2. Trade school education preferred |
Experience: | Minimum of 3-5 years of trade school education and/or industrial manufacturing experience in a similar role |
Preferred Skills/ Qualifications: | 1. Process knowledge specific to hose manufacturing 2. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills 3. Sound decision making skills 4. Good math, reading and writing skills 5. Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual and audio attention 6. Creative and out of the box thinker to visualize and construct equipment and/or make modification that will improve safety and productivity for our processes and people |
Skills/ Competencies: | 1. Basic computer skills 2. Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks 3. Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail 4. Have working knowledge of the maintenance and functionality of various types of manufacturing equipment 5. Have working knowledge and understanding of plumbing, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, electrical equipment (systems up to 480 volts), carpentry, fabrication, and design 6. Familiarity with programming knowledge in PLC’s, HMI’s 7. Strong working knowledge of Machine Sensors 8. Strong understanding of mechanics |

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/ SCOPE:
Report directly to Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Work closely with other departments to resolve issues with the processes & equipment
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee may be subject to:
High noise levels from operating machines and equipment
Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels
1. Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection)
2. Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis
3. Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions
4. Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime
