POSITION PURPOSE

This position is responsible for facilitating the professional and career development of students and graduates through coaching on subject areas such as resume writing, job search skills, and interviewing best practices. This position is also responsible for facilitating and coordinator direct contact between students/graduates with employers with the goal of assisting students in finding gainful, entry-level employment in a program-related field.

JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiate contact with students outlining the goals and objectives of Career Services in assisting students with obtaining job placement opportunities.
  • Conduct frequent professional and career development workshops and seminars for students to help hone their skills in preparation and in pursuit of their chosen careers.
  • Assist recent graduates, alumni, and active students in career planning and placement efforts in accordance with internal policies as well as with all applicable state/federal regulations and all accrediting agencies’ standards and requirements.
  • Take an active role in the Career Development Class to facilitate Exit Interviews with pending Graduates.
  • Organize and coordinate Career Fairs/Employer Events throughout the year to give students ample opportunities to participate.
  • Establish and maintain connections with community partners, industry experts, and professional organizations to ensure a pipeline to potential employers.
  • Stay current on industry requirements/certifications to ensure students and graduates are well-equipped and prepared to enter their chosen fields and obtain gainful employment.
  • Facilitate 2 Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings per year, to create an opportunity to engage educators and industry experts in providing recommendations on improving programs offered. Record and maintain meeting minutes and distribute them accordingly.
  • Utilize CampusNexus to document and track all communications with and on behalf of students, as well as to keep a detailed record of their employment or unavailable statuses, and to scan in all relevant supporting documentation.
  • Produce and present weekly, quarterly, and annual reports as needed.
  • Participate in commencement ceremonies and related activities.
  • Manage and maintain current job lists for active students and graduates.
  • Work with Student Services Coordinator on G&E Chart confirmation and audits of G&E and Cohort.
  • Perform and complete other tasks that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Education

  • Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Human Services or related field preferred.

Experience/Skills

  • One year experience in a placement/recruiting firm, career counseling, or industry-related position and 1 year experience in a marketing/sales environment are strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven, compliance-oriented educational environment.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and have the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism
  • Persuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service in an educational setting.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a collaborative team member and have exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills are required with proficiency in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams. CampusNexus experience a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of regular work shifts, including evenings and/or weekends as necessary or as requested by Supervisor.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally and/or overnight for business purposes.
